Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin took to the podium again on Tuesday afternoon for his weekly press conference. He addressed the current COVID-19 conditions of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. As of right now, the Steelers are planning to roll into Week 11 without either of them playing on Sunday night.

In some good news, Tomlin also noted that wide receiver Chase Claypool will practice on Wednesday. Claypool missed last week's game due to a toe injury that has kept him on the sideline for the past few days. OG Kevin Dotson, CB Joe Haden, OG Trai Turner, and LB TJ Watt should all be at least limited in practice this week.

As for the tie against the Detroit Lions that took place this past Sunday, Tomlin expressed how missed tackles were a big component of why the Lions' run game was so successful. As far as offensively, it was the Steelers lack of ability to hang onto the ball when it mattered most.

Looking ahead to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Steelers will head into SoFi Stadium for another primetime matchup. Tomlin noted that the team will prepare for Mason Rudolph again as their starting quarterback, but also mentioned how much respect he has for Chargers quarterback, Justin Herbert. He also highlighted the incredible talents of WR Keenan Allen, TE Jared Cook, RB Austin Ekeler, DE Joey Bosa, and S Derwin James.

In regards to the new quarterback the Steelers signed this week to the practice squad in James Morgan, Tomlin mentioned that his addition will help the team this week for game prep:

"He'll provide us a good look on service teams and allow the other two guys [Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins] to focus exclusively on game prep."
