Who are Jon Bostic and Morgan Burnett?

Jon Bostic

This past Sunday the Steelers signed former Colts Inside Linebacker Jon Bostic. He was drafted in 2013 by the Chicago Bears out of the University of Florida in the 2nd round. In college he was seen as an absolute monster in the middle of the Gators defense, especially against the run. These traits showed early in his career with 2 productive seasons as the Bears ILB but then after being traded to the Patriots he suffered a foot injury which kept him off the field for all of the 2016 season. He then became a member of the Indianapolis Colts for the 2017 season and was their leading tackler with 97 total tackles. Pro

Football Focus reported that between weeks 5 and 15 he only once missed a tackle. The traits Bostic brings to the table are well above par and should make him a very good place holder and still only 26 years of age he represents a low risk, high reward type signing.

Morgan Burnett

Today the signing of Morgan Burnett represents a great upgrade in talent and leadership in the Steelers secondary. After the oft injured Mike Mitchell being in and out of the lineup and Joe Haden missing time the secondary lacked leadership and experience. Bringing in Burnett will definitely help in that department since in his career he has played 108 games in his career, durability like that is key for the Steelers who lack depth in the secondary. Durability is not the only elite quality Burnett possesses. Like Bostic he is an excellent tackler having registered over 100 tackles 3 times and between 90-100 twice in his career. Tackling at the safety position for the Steelers has been a liability at times, hopefully Burnett can help clean up that area of the Defense. Burnett will look great in the Black and Gold for the next 3 years. If you're a Steelers fan you should be very happy with this signing.
