PITTSBURGH, PA – More "change" coming from the Steelers this early offseason as they decide to part ways with running back coach, James Saxon on Monday.
This decision comes just days after letting go of linebackers coach, Joey Porter.
"I have made the decision to not renew the contract for running backs coach James Saxon," Tomlin said. "We would like to thank James for his efforts over the past five years, and we wish him the best in his future coaching endeavors," Tomlin continued.
Saxon was the former running backs coach for the Buffalo Bills (2000), Kansas City Chiefs (2001-2007), Miami Dolphins (2008-2010), and Minnesota Vikings (2011-2014). Saxon joined the Steelers in 2014.
Under Saxon, the Steelers ranked 16th in rushing in 2014, 16th in 2015 and 14th in 2016, while falling even further the past two seasons to 20th in 2017 and 31st in 2018 per NFL.com statistics.
This probably won't be the last "change" we see in regards to the coaching staff this offseason.
