The Pittsburgh Steelers surprised many when they selected QB Kenny Pickett with their first round selection last month in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Steelers' quarterback spoke to the media after Day 1 of the second week of Organized Team Activities (OTA's).

"No better guys to learn [from] than the guys that are here that either have done it or that I'm trying to learn from and asking Mitch [Trubisky] and Mason [Rudolph] as many questions as I can. And me and Chris [Oladokun] are attached at the hip really all day, we're kind of going through it together, and it's been fun.
On what he's learned from Rudolph and Trubisky:
"It's just little small things here and there. I mean, it's not a formal sit down, like 'Hey man, can you give me all the secrets?' You know, I'm going through plays, I'm like, 'Hey, what did you see here, why'd you do this?' you know, 'What footwork do you like to use here?' All little things like that, we're kind of working together, everyone's getting better, so that's good. You know, good competition."

On the QB competition:
"Yeah, I mean, it's just, I don't know, we're all learning, I'm learning and I'm just kind of attacking each day. I think you guys make a bigger deal out of the competition than players do because we're competing every single day, regardless. So, I'm just excited to be a part of this team and compete."
Pickett was asked if he was motivated by taking third string reps even though it's early on:
"I mean, I didn't think I was going to walk in and be the 1, right? So, it's kind of what I was expecting. Just come in here and earn everything that I get, it's just kind of how it goes in life and the game. So, I'm excited to be here!"
On working with head coach, Mike Tomlin:
"Yeah, it's pretty awesome. Every team meeting, there's always something, there's always little things that he kind of points out that I haven't looked for in previous years playing. He's a great guy to have and a great defensive mind, too. I think as I get more comfortable with the offense, I can start picking his brain more about defenses and what I can expect during the season. So, it's been going well."
