The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to lose depth at the safety position. Weeks ago they lost safety Karl Joseph for the season, and today they suffered another big blow to their safety depth.

According to Pittsburgh Post Gazette beat writer Gerry Dulac safety Damontae Kazee suffered a season ending injury Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
Bad news for Steelers: Backup safety Damontae Kazee needs surgery on injured wrist/arm and will go on IR.

Dulac left the door open for interpretation when it comes to injured reserve. If Kazee is placed on injured reserve prior to making the 53 man roster then he's out for the season.
If Kazee is kept on the 53 man roster, and then placed on injured reserve he can come back after 4 weeks.
Regardless the Steelers will be without Kazee for several weeks. And it puts Pittsburgh in a tough position. While Kazee wasn't going to start over Terrell Edmunds he was still going to find plenty of playing time in sub packages.
Now Pittsburgh will be forced to search the waiver wire on cut down day for more depth.
