After much speculation and a hold-in during training camp, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Wide Receiver, Diontae Johnson have agreed to terms on a three-year $39.5 million extension, according to Gerry Dulac. $27 million is guaranteed, per Mike Garafolo.

Johnson, 26, is coming off the best statistical year of his NFL career that saw 1,161 receiving yards on 107 receptions. Johnson was reportedly “holding-in” throughout training camp in hopes that he and the Steelers would reach a deal. The deal works out for both sides - Johnson gets financial security and the Steelers get him at a team-friendly deal at just $13.32 million per year, which is good for 29th amongst all other wide receivers in the NFL.
He was quick to celebrate his new contract. Teammate Marcus Allen video-taped him while eating lunch at St. Vincent cafeteria.

Johnson joins a handful of other wide receivers across the NFL that struck a deal during the offseason that includes Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders (five-years, $141.25 million), Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins (four years, $120 million), and D.K. Metcalf to remain with the Seattle Seahawks (three-years, $72 million), among others.
With this new contract, Johnson is set to become a free agent following the 2024 season.
