Steelers Latest Injury Updates: DT Tyson Alualu Returns To Practice; 4th-Year LB Ulysees Gilbert III Seen In Walking Boot

As is always the case, the Pittsburgh Steelers have already had to deal with several injuries just two weeks into training camp. For the most part, Monday provided a decent bit of good news in the injury department. First though, veteran Ulysees Gilbert III was seen in a walking boot, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor. That's quite unfortunate for the fourth-year inside linebacker, as injuries have severely plagued his upside in his time in the NFL. He was having the best training camp of his career, so it couldn't come at a worse time for him.

Additionally, another inside linebacker is injured, as TD Moultry was waived. The signing of Ron'Dell Carter was the response to Moultry's injury. While they play different roles at linebacker, the team's depth is much better on the inside than the outside, thus why they opted for an outside guy like Carter. The injuries to Moultry and Gilbert leave the Steelers with just Devin Bush and Robert Spillane left at LILB.

Now, on the positive front, a plethora of guys returned to practice on Monday. Tyson Alualu was officially activated off the PUP List, and he was seen practicing. Wide receiver Chase Claypool returned from his shoulder injury after missing over week of camp. In the "Seven Shots" drill, he was in the starting lineup at WR, alongside Diontae Johnson and George Pickens.

Cornerback Levi Wallace has been out with an illness, but he returned Monday at a much-needed time. Cam Sutton was suited up and testing out his ankle as well, which is a sign that his injury isn't too severe. Those are huge updates to the cornerback position, as the team was missing two of their top three guys. Now, they should be able to return to full health in the near future.

Important depth pieces and special teamers, Marcus Allen and Miles Killebrew, came back from their respective injuries, too. Elsewhere on the defensive line, Larry Ogunjobi saw the field for the first time in team drills. As for Najee Harris and Derek Watt, they remained on the sidelines for Monday's practice. Neither of their injuries figure to be long-term, as the team is being mostly cautious with Harris' injury specifically. Guys like Master Teague III, Jaylen Warren, and Mataeo Durant have continued to get more snaps as a result. That should only benefit the team in the long-term, as they aim to find more productive backups at running back.
