The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially entered a new era at the quarterback position. Kenny Pickett replaced Mitch Trubisky to begin the second half on Sunday afternoon against the New York Jets. There is no turning back now and Pickett is the Steelers starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.

The first drive of his career didn't go as planned with him throwing an interception on his first ever pass attempt, but thanks to a interception from Defensive Player of the Year hopeful, Minkak Fitzpatrick, he was able to redeem himself with a QB sneak for a touchdown on his second possession.

Pickett then led the offense down the field and scored on a two-yard run to put the Steelers up 10 on the third drive of his young career.

Mike Tomlin seemed as if he was not interested in replacing Trubisky for the rookie, but it is clear that most of his comments in recent weeks were merely a smokescreen. Pickett is now the Steelers starting quarterback and will attempt to follow in the footsteps of Ben Roethlisberger and become the next franchise quarterback for the storied organization.
