Steelers' New LB Myles Jack Enjoys having "Very Detailed," Brian Flores Around and Playing in a "New Culture"

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a splash in free agency when they signed inside linebacker, Myles Jack, to a two- year deal this off-season. The Steelers typically don't spend money via free agency like they did this year, but Jack could very well be the next James Farrior type of signing for this team. Head Coach Mike Tomlin even called Jack personally, which sealed the deal for the former member of the Jacksonville Jaguars to sign with the team.

Jack spoke to the media after a practice session at Organized Team Activities (OTA's) on Wednesday and discussed new linebackers coach Brian Flores' impact and the love he has for this Steelers defense.

Jack spoke on Flores and his impact on this Steelers defense:

"Great coach, should be a head coach in this league, very detailed, very specific, you know exactly what he expects from you. I enjoy it, so you know what you're getting going into each practice very detailed, he can explain things. I enjoy it, I feel like it's like having a cheat sheet as a coach, so it's cool."

On if the Flores hiring helped Jack make his free agency decision:

"I feel like that definitely played in, because you definitely want to know what coach is coaching you. You know, because it was my first time going through free agency, so when you get to pick a team, you're kind of looking at layers of things and who's coaching you is big. That holds a lot of weight, because you want to go in and know what you're doing, so it definitely played a part."

Jack was asked to expand about his opening presser comments about "looking forward to being uncomfortable."

"The whole uncomfortable thing was, I had been in Jacksonville for six years, so I didn't know any other organization. I didn't know any other way, so coming here, it's a new culture, new everything. But, it's been for the better for me, I enjoy coming to work everyday. It's been great, so the uncomfortableness is just more of learning a new scheme, getting acclimated, figuring out a new city, moving, all that type of stuff. So it's been fun, though. It's been great!"

"What stood out to you about being with the Pittsburgh Steelers that maybe you didn't expect?"

"It's the culture man and that's what people always say, but coming from where I came from and coming here, you see why this team is successful, you know what I mean? The mission's clear, there's no secrets. If there's a problem, it gets addressed right then and there. And I feel like that's the only way you have to win is everybody's held accountable, so I've enjoyed it. It's been great!"

Jack's thoughts on the Steelers' defensive unit:

"Oh, man," Jack said with a smile. "Me, personally, I expect big things from it and being a part of it. I'm just studying every night, playing my role, making sure I know everything, so that way when bullets get to flying for real, it's going to be fun. It's going to be fun on Sundays. It's going to be real fun. "
