The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially kicked off the 2022 season and are taking on the Cincinnati Bengals in week one. The quarterback controversy in Pittsburgh was talked about throughout the offseason and preseason. Head Coach, Mike Tomlin decided to go with the veteran, Mitch Trubisky over first-round draft pick, Kenny Pickett. According to Fox Sports insider, Jay Glazer, Tomlin plans to start Trubisky for the entire year.

Glazer said on the Fox NFL Sunday Show that he spoke with Tomlin and the consensus is that the Steelers will elect to stick with Trubisky and allow Pickett to settle in throughout his rookie year.

"And I talked to Mike [Tomlin] again this morning about it. He said, look, this is [Mitch] Trubisky's team. His plan is to sit Kenny Pickett all season long and just let him sit and learn in his rookie season."

There is no doubt that Tomlin would say that this is Trubisky's team. With that said, it is very unlikely that Tomlin, a coach who is very particular about his words and answers to questions would rule out Pickett playing if Trubisky plays poorly. What head coach would willingly admit he will bench his week one starting quarterback before the season even begins?

It goes for every position throughout the league. If a player doesn't perform and play up to expectations, he could and should be replaced. We will know in a few weeks if Trubisky is the right guy for the job.

Should we be reading into Glazer's report too much? Or is it simply an assumption on his part? Let us know in the comments below!
