Steelers Fan Favorite Kenny Pickett Sees Jersey Sales Soar To Top 5 In The NFL

It is without a doubt that fans who root for the Pittsburgh Steelers are not only found in the city of Pittsburgh. There are fans virtually all over the world who cheer on the black and gold. Along with being one of the most popular fanbases in the NFL, Steeler fans, win or lose, are never shy when it comes to wearing their Steeler gear loud and proud. One of the most popular jerseys for fans to wear over the last decade was the jersey of former quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Most Steeler fans over the last few years have resorted to buying the infamous '7' jersey or even resort to the glory days of their favorite defensive player from the Steel Curtain.

Over the next few seasons, Steeler fans will still surely be wearing their Roethlisberger jersey to Heinz Field or their local watering hole on Sunday's in the fall. But it appears we will also see a surplus of '8' jerseys as well.

The NFL put out a tweet of the best-selling jerseys of 2022 so far, and cracking the top five was the Steelers future franchise quarterback, Kenny Pickett. Pickett so far this year has the fourth-best selling jersey in the NFL and is third in sales for the month of May. He is also in some fine company when it compares to jersey sales of other stars around the NFL. He is ahead of many top tier NFL players such as the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, future Hall of Fame quarterback and current Tampa Bay Buccaneer, Tom BradyCincinnati Bengals quarterback, Joe Burrow, and many more. The only players ahead of Pickett are new Denver Broncos quarterback, Russell Wilson, Buffalo Bills quarterback, Josh Allen, and Las Vegas Raiders new star wide receiver, Davante Adams.

It has not been reported the exact number of Pickett jerseys sold, but considering who he is in front of on the list, the number would have to be astronomical. Pickett is also the only rookie that cracks the top 10 so far this year.

In recent years, other Steelers who have cracked the top 10 in jersey sales at one point or another in their career are former receivers Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster, former running backs Le'Veon Bell and James Conner. Most recently, T.J Watt.

To me, this is no surprise. Especially when it comes to a sports hero in the city of Pittsburgh. Pickett has a just begun his career with the Steelers and has a long way to go and many games to win before he can have his name mentioned in the same company as Roethlisberger, former Steelers Hall of Fame quarterback, Terry Bradshaw, and even Pittsburgh hockey hero, Sidney Crosby. But so far these jersey sales results show that the city of Pittsburgh and Steeler fans all across the world are behind Pickett even before he begins his career. Although playing his college career literally next door, and having much success already in Heinz Field with the Panthers may have helped Pickett gain popularity quickly in the city of Pittsburgh, it shows that Steeler fans are confident in the young quarterback and hope to see him become the starting quarterback at some point during the 2022 season.
