The Pittsburgh Steelers and General Manager Omar Khan in particular have always been known for cap wizardry. It seems as if they are at it again. According to Ian Rapoport, the organization has restructured the contract of reigning Defensive Player of the Year, T.J. Watt. The restructure will apparently open up $6.75 million in cap space for the franchise.

Watt, who signed a massive contract extension a year ago, is poised to have another incredible year and was just named a team captain. The Steelers like to enter the season with at least $5 million in cap space and the adjustment of his deal now gives the team just about $9 million. According to Over The Cap, Pittsburgh had just under $2 million heading into Wednesday morning.

One has to believe it is possible the deal of Cameron Heyward could be restructured before the start of the season as well. If that does happen, it could mean the Steelers are looking to make an addition to a struggling positional group via trade or free agency.

Is this just a simple restructure or is Khan up to something? Let us know in the comments below!
