Steelers Week 6 Postgame: TJ Watt Rallies Defense Late to Improve Pittsburgh to 3-3

The Pittsburgh Steelers experienced their first primetime game of this young 2021 NFL regular season as they faced off against the undermanned, Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. No Russell Wilson and no Chris Carson due to injuries left the Seahawks looking to Geno Smith to lead the way. With the Cleveland Browns losing to the Arizona Cardinals earlier in the day, the Steelers knew that this was a perfect opportunity to close the gap in the race for the AFC North.

The fireworks at Heinz Field set the stage, and Steelers royalty was in the building as the 2020-21 Hall of Fame inductees were in the building and got their rings at halftime! That alone brought an energy into the building like none other.

After a slow start in the first quarter, the second quarter was highlighted by a Ben Roethlisberger pitch and catch to running back, Najee Harris for a 5-yard touchdown (10:01), followed by a RUSHING touchdown by tight end, Eric Ebron with 1:01 on the clock before halftime!

In the second half, we would start to see momentum swing in the Seahawks favor. A pair of field goals by kicker, Chris Boswell would keep the Steelers either up three, or tied the rest of the game -- but it was running back, Alex Collins (former member of the Baltimore Ravens) that would finish the game with 20 rushing attempts for 101 yards. The Seahawks continuously ran it behind the right side of their offensive line all 3rd and 4th quarter, and the Steelers just couldn't seem to find an answer for him. Collins would also finish with 1 rushing touchdown, with Smith also finding tight end, Will Dissly for a 2-yard score. Couple that with a pair of Jason Myers field goals, and we're all tied up late in regulation.

Alas, overtime. Both teams obtained a possession before eventually punting the ball away to each other and making it a sudden death matchup. But the real story was TJ Watt. His eventual sack-fumble which was recovered by Devin Bush set the Steelers up for a Boswell game-winning field goal! What an exciting ending!
