WATCH: Newly Signed Steelers Kicker Chris Boswell Absolutely Bombs a 65-Yard Field Goal in New Video

The Pittsburgh Steelers kicker is already showing he is worth the money.

Chris Boswell has been one of the best in his field over the last seven seasons in the league, bumping shoulders with legends like Justin Tucker and Adam Vinatieri. The Steelers, always proficient in the kicking game, realized this potential and scooped Boswell up in 2015, and haven't looked back since. Through some ups and downs, Boswell has emerged as one of the most valuable special teams pieces in the entire NFL.

His brand new contract certainly reflects that, shelling out $20.5 million over the next four seasons. Not only does this tie the record for highest paid kicker in the history of the league, it also cements Boswell as a Steeler for the foreseeable future, shoring up the kicking game long-term for an offense that needs guarantees more than anything right now.

Of course, to earn such a hefty paycheck as a kicker, you have to be on the money at all times, which Boswell has certainly taken care of. His FG% is among the highest in the history of the sport; he's made at least 90% of his kicks in the last three years, and remains relatively healthy and consistent at all times -- a coordinator's dream. However, there's one more detail that front offices love to see from franchise kickers: hard work, and ice in the veins.

In a new video from 4th Down University, Boswell is seen setting up a kick in the Pitt training facility. Backwards hat ready to go, the trusty right foot of Boswell sends the ball careening through the uprights, clearing it by a considerable margin. Before hitting the sweet spot though, Boswell pans over to reveal the ball has been placed at his own 45-yard line. Watch:

Now, we've seen kickers hit monster field goals from insurmountable distances before. Kickers hit into the mid 70's as a form of practice, especially indoors in perfect conditions with a tee. The 76-yard Matt Prater Pro Bowl effort comes to mind, as does the 75-yarder from the aforementioned Tucker during an outdoor practice in 2019. But don't let those dampen the moment. Rejoice, Steeler Nation. Our franchise kicker doesn't let the money get to his head, at least not yet. Not to mention that the kick itself was probably good from at least 74 yards out.

I know that we've gotten used to seeing monster kicks and jaw dropping highlights, but take a moment to appreciate our newly paid kicker absolutely decimating that ball.

$20.5 million hitting the bank account over the next four years for the Steelers is cause for celebration, but it seems as if Boswell doesn't mind it.

To him, it's just another Tuesday in Pittsburgh. After all, this dedication and meticulous practice is what got him here seven years ago, and what has propelled him to be a top three kicker in the NFL today. The historically great Boswell isn't here to mess around; he's here to put his name in the history books and break records.

Or, in the case of his contract, at least tie them.

With the Steelers shelling out money like we haven't seen for a long time, it was almost certain that Boswell would get his due eventually. The recent signing of Minkah Fitzpatrick has shown that the Steelers are willing to spend, and Boswell was no exception. After the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger, the front office and new general manager, Omar Khan have entered a new era of Steelers football that seems to follow the trends of the league: spend big, and make headlines.

Chris Boswell certainly doesn't mind it. And neither do we.
