Steelers' Kicker Chris Boswell Added To Injury Report For Week 8 Putting His Status In Question

author image

Not much changed in the Pittsburgh Steelers' injury report on Friday, other than their kicker Chris Boswell appearing on it. Boswell showed up on the report with a groin injury, something that hadn't been reported until today. It's unclear as to when he suffered the injury, whether it was in a game or practice. Now, Boswell's status for Week 8 is in doubt.

The team doesn't have any other kickers on the roster or practice squad, and they have yet to make a move. That should get a sliver of confidence in his prospects of playing on Sunday, although a move may be made later Friday afternoon. Defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi (knee) and Levi Wallace (shoulder) are officially out this weekend after not practicing again on Friday. Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette provided the update on the team's injuries from Friday's practice.

Wallace suffered the shoulder injury in the Week 7 loss to the Miami Dolphins, his third different injury this season. Fellow cornerback Josh Jackson is questionable for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, as he is dealing with a groin issue. Thankfully, the team will get Ahkello Witherspoon back in action, helping replace some of the CB depth lost with Wallace out.

Ogunjobi's loss is a crucial one, as he's stepped up in a big way over the last few weeks. Veteran Chris Wormley, listed as the backup defensive end behind Ogunjobi on the team's depth chart, will step in as the starter. After starting 15 games in 2021, he has yet to make a start yet this season. Wormley did play 21 snaps last week though, so he'll be ready to step in just fine.

Others like Witherspoon, Montravius Adams, Steven Sims, and Pat Freiermuth are officially good to go for the weekend, as they appeared on the injury report earlier in the week. Sims missed last week's contest, and his impact on the return game was sorely missed. If the team wants a chance at an upset over the Eagles this weekend, Sims could play a huge role in shifting field position throughout.

Lastly, if you were missed it, TJ Watt practiced again on Friday. Since he remains on the IR, he doesn't appear on the daily injury reports throughout the week. At the moment, his status seems to be 50/50 for the weekend. As we all know, his presence in the lineup is quite crucial.

Who do you think the team will sign if Boswell is unable to go? Are you concerned about the absences of Wallace and Ogunjobi? Share your thoughts in the comment section below, as well as on our social media sites!
