It seems obvious to even the most casual fan that many of the Pittsburgh Steelers' best players got snubbed from the Pro Bowl this season. When the roster was initially announced, the only two black and gold members named were TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick

There are some players that just do not initially get the respect or credit they deserve like Alex Highsmith and Cam Heyward. Heyward, however, did just get a spot as Kansas City Chiefs tackle Chris Jones is out because of the Super Bowl.

Watt backed out of the Pro Bowl festivities, presumably to allow his spot to go to the well-deserving Highsmith. Frankly, the offer to Watt over Highsmith was a snub, to begin with. Watt, while exceptionally talented, did not have the numbers this season. He was out most of it and had only 5.5 sacks. Highsmith, on the other hand, led the team and was sixth overall in the NFL with 14.5 sacks.

Now that other players are opting out because the Super Bowl contenders are set, we are seeing even more head-scratching replacements. And there is one that has a former Steeler speaking out about the unfairness of it.

Former Steeler Shocked At Pro Bowl Snubs Not Spots

Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Arthur Moats took to video today to express his disbelief that the Baltimore Ravens, backup QB, Tyler Huntley would be selected to the Pro Bowl over the Steelers' starting QB Kenny Pickett.

"Let's go ahead and address the elephant in the room, they just named Tyler Huntley the official Pro Bowl quarterback. Third on the roster, we got Trevor Lawrence, Derek Carr and Tyler Huntley. I like how he came in there in the midst of adversity and kept the Ravens afloat."

Moats goes on to say that he means no disrespect to Huntley and applauds the situation he is in. He said while he understands Huntley provided a vital service to the team, he was merely a stopgap until Lamar Jackson could come back in. Not to mention Carr coming in for Joe Burrow. Carr did not even finish the season with Las Vegas and he lost to Pickett.

"I don't get this one, I don't know how Tyler Huntley becomes the Pro Bowl quarterback for the AFC. If Tyler Huntley is a Pro Bowler this year, then Kenny Pickett is a Pro Bowler. Make this one make sense. Kenny Pickett, you're officially snubbed."

Moats, as well as Steelers fans, have a valid reason to feel that Pickett was snubbed. Huntley only played half the season and, as Moats said, he did enough to keep Ravens afloat but his production was lackluster at best. He only averaged 5.9 yards an attempt and threw two touchdown passes in six games.

The one advantage that Huntley had over Pickett is that the Ravens made it to a playoff game, where they lost to the Cincinnati Bengals. However, statistically speaking and based on the overall performance, he feels that Pickett beats him every time. In addition, Carr made the squad and the Raiders did not make the playoffs, he doesn't even play for the team anymore.

Pickett had a vastly better season. While he didn't necessarily have incredible numbers, he did lead a season-saving comeback for the team. He wasn't just a backup that came in and kept the team from drowning. He took over for a failing vet and finished out the season 7-2 and kept coach Mike Tomlin's winning season streak alive too.

The Pro Bowl selection process is subjective at best so it can be frustrating for fans supporting their teams and players. At times it is hard to see it as more than just a popularity contest. As fans, all we can do is hope that this helps to light a fire under all the players that motivates them to get get to the Super Bowl in 2023, after all, that is the real prize.
