Brothers in the NFL. It’s a storyline that everyone loves, especially with the Pittsburgh Steelers. With the Kelce Bowl coming to an end, surely it’s time for another headline. One thing is certain: no one does brothers better than the boys in the Steel City. The Steelers don’t shy away from adding pairs of brothers to the roster, with the Heywards, as well as the Watt brothers on the roster. Now, a new name has surfaced to add to the family reunion in Pittsburgh.

The latest speculation is that the Steelers have a real shot at Tremaine Edmunds, brother of former first-round pick, Terrell Edmunds. Tremaine was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the first-round of the 2018 NFL Draft with the 16th overall pick. Just 12 picks later, the Steelers took his brother, Terrell, off the board. Tremaine went on to be a consistent force on the defensive side for the Bills, earning Pro Bowl honors in two out of his five seasons. In May 2021, the Bills brought Tremaine back for another year by exercising the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Now, the Bills are faced with a decision to make. Already $16 million above the salary cap, are they able and willing to do what it takes to bring back Tremaine?

The linebacker weighed in on the matter to Fox Sports:

"I'm gonna let the process take shape. You know what I mean? Like, you know, [the Bills] have been good to me. So I definitely say thank you to the Bills for everything that they've done for me these last five years. But like I said, man, I'm just right now — I'm in the backseat."

The non-committal response from Tremaine gave hope to the other 31 NFL teams and immediately places him as one of the top potential free agents this off-season. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report reveals that the best fit for the linebacker would be to join his brother in Pittsburgh:

"Expect Edmunds, who has a projected market value of $11 million annually, to see a hefty payday next month. While the Steelers would need to clear some cap space to sign him—they're projected to have less than $1 million available—they would be an ideal landing spot."

The Steelers would need to clear some space in order to acquire the linebacker. Knox suggests that releasing linebacker Myles Jack could clear up $8 million in space and pave the way for Tremaine.

One of the top priorities for the black and gold this off-season should be bringing in a talented linebacker, whether in free agency or through the draft. Jack, Devin Bush, Robert Spillane, Malik Reed, and Marcus Allen are all approaching free agency this off-season. It's no secret that the Steelers will more than likely part ways with Bush. By clearing space and bringing in Tremaine, the Steelers have already upgraded the position.

What About The Other Brother On The Steelers?

Like his brother, Terrell Edmunds is approaching free agency as well. Terrell has been a consistent force at safety alongside star, Minkah Fitzpatrick. Over five seasons with the black and gold, Terrell has registered 410 total tackles, 5 interceptions, and 5 sacks. The Steelers passed on his fifth-year option last year, but that didn't stop them from closing on a one-year deal. As opposed to his brother, Terrell calls the team that drafted him home and expresses strong interest in staying.

Will the Steelers land one brother, both, or none?  What are your predictions, Steeler Nation?
