The Pittsburgh Steelers’ offseason has officially begun, and that means general manager, Omar Khan has started to look for cornerback help. The team has begun contract negotiations with its own free agent, Cam Sutton, but they could still add a corner if they bring him back. The black and gold have been connected to all of the top cornerbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft class, especially considering they have three top-50 picks.

The Steelers have even been connected to a few high-profile, veteran DB's. First, a rumor came out from Radio Row that there was interest in Baltimore Ravens CB Marcus Peters. With the Los Angeles Rams’ tumultuous 2022 season, they are expected to possibly give away a few pieces. Last week, that process began with the release of All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner, whom the Steelers could be interested in once again.

Which star on the market would have the biggest impact on Steelers defense?

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey is now the name that many expected to be moved. Due to the team need, the Steelers have been connected to the six-time Pro Bowler. It’s unclear how much Khan would be willing to give up to get a guy like Ramsey, especially with his large contract. According to BetOnline, the black and gold are tied for the fifth-best odds in acquiring him.

The Las Vegas Raiders (+110), Detroit Lions (+125), Cincinnati Bengals (+700), and New York Giants (+1100) are the four teams that are ahead of the black and gold. Three other teams are tied with the Steelers at +1200 odds. Contrary to what some may have thought, Ramsey's game didn't slow down in 2022. His 86.4 Pro Football Focus grade ranked third out of 118 qualifying cornerbacks. While he missed both All-Pro teams, he did make his sixth Pro Bowl.

There’s no question about how much the 28-year-old has left in the tank, as he's still an elite DB. Ramsey would immediately be the team’s best cornerback in who knows how long. Joe Haden, William Gay, and Sutton have done solid jobs over the years, but it’s been a long time since the Steelers have had a true No. 1 lockdown corner. While it remains a long shot, it's a move that would take this defense to the next level.

Do you want the team to pursue Ramsey? What would you give up to acquire the perennial Pro Bowler? Ramsey would be the best Steelers cornerback since who? Share your thoughts in the comment section below, yinz!
