The grind does not stop for Pittsburgh Steelers General Manager Omar Khan. That's the life of a GM in the National Football League, but particularly for a guy who has been as aggressive as he has been in his first 11 months. The team has a few open roster spots, and he's made it clear that he will upgrade the team whenever there's an opportunity to do so.

The Athletic
Steelers' Omar Khan has thrived since taking over as the team's general manager in 2022.
On Tuesday, I wrote about what the team will potentially do with the remaining spots, including finding another edge rusher. On Wednesday morning, Khan appeared on Randy Baumann & the DVE Morning Show to discuss this past week's NFL Draft. He provided a timetable as to when to expect the team to fill those remaining roster spots with OTAs around the corner.
"We're always going to continue to keep trying to improve the roster if there's an opportunity. I'd expect to fill those positions here in the next couple of weeks."
The buildup to the season really begins to ramp up next week, as the Steelers will have their rookie minicamp. Khan referenced that as a possible source to fill some of those remaining spots, and they will have plenty of guys there to showcase their talents. Rutgers punter Adam Korsak may be the most notable name on the list as of now, as he became one of the best at his position in college over the past few years.

Steelers punter Pressley Harvin III walks on the field at Acrisure Stadium prior to a 2022 regular season game in Pittsburgh, PA.
If things go well for him, he could possibly compete with Pressley Harvin III and Braden Mann for the punting job. Khan expects to fill those spots relatively soon, but most definitely by OTA's. OTA's are just three weeks away, so we will know those names sooner rather than later. Keep an eye on the veterans in free agency, specifically on the edge, as that would make some sense.
Steelers add another punter to competition
Looking even further down the road, the Steelers could fill the position(s) of need after roster cuts around the league. One thing is clear after his interview on 102.5 DVE: he will continue to be aggressive. For black and gold fans, that's a good thing. That mindset landed them several high-value picks in the recent 2023 NFL Draft, including the likes of Joey Porter Jr. and Darnell Washington.
What do you think the team will do with the remaining roster spots? What positions should they add the players to? Who are you looking forward to seeing at the rookie minicamp? Share your thoughts in the comment section below, yinz!
