The Pittsburgh Steelers recently selected cornerback Joey Porter Jr. in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. As we know, before his time, Joey Porter Sr. was a Steelers legend. Selected in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft, Porter Sr. would go on to play eight seasons in Pittsburgh. Now, he will get to see his son don the same uniform. He was quite the player for the Steelers, racking up 60 sacks and 17 forced fumbles.

Former Steelers cornerback Bryant McFadden played for the team a total of six years across two separate stints.

On Thursday, Porter Sr. appeared on the podcast All Things Covered with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden. He was teammates with each of the two, playing with McFadden for two years in Pittsburgh. In 2011, Porter Sr.'s last season and Peterson's first, the two shared the field with the Arizona Cardinals. In a full circle moment years later, Peterson will now be that mentor to Porter Jr. that Porter Sr. was to him in Arizona. In his appearance on the podcast, the four-time Pro Bowler hilariously recalled his "Welcome to the NFL" moment.

"I get into an argument with Jonathan [Ogden]. He turned around and looked at me and went back to the huddle. Man, the next play, he slammed me and splashed me and knocked all the wind out of me. And I had to tap out, and I [had] just came into the game, and he had me tapping my helmet. I was like damn, I didn't realize that big dude was about to be that fast. That was the real life first ogor that I played against."

Porter is speaking of Jonathan Ogden, who spent all 12 seasons of his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens. Porter wasn't the only defender that Ogden did that to, as he became one of the best offensive tackles of all-time. In his career, Ogden made the Pro Bowl in 11 of his 12 seasons. After missing the Pro Bowl as a rookie, in which he finished fifth in the AFC Rookie of the Year voting, he made it in all of his final 11 years.

Ravens legend Jonathan Ogden became one of the best offensive tackles of all-time, terrorizing the Steelers for years.

Ogden was a First Team All-Pro four times, while making the Second Team on five additional occasions. You get the gist, he was absolutely dominant. In 2013, he was officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It speaks volumes to his dominance, as that was just a handful of years after his retirement after the 2007-2008 season.

Will family connection help Steelers CB Porter Jr. in 2023?

Hey, if there's a way to have to tap out, it may as well be against a Hall of Famer. Porter Sr. was no slouch in his own regard either, as his immense strength was always on full display throughout his career. Three of his four career Pro Bowl appearances came in Pittsburgh, as that's when he was at the height of his game. Porter Sr. spent a few seasons with the Miami Dolphins before ending up in Arizona to end his impressive career.

What were your favorite memories of Porter Sr. in his career with Pittsburgh? Where does he rank amongst the best linebackers in franchise history? Do you think his son, Joey Porter Jr., will live up to all of the hype? What are your expectations for him as a rookie?
