BR Suggests 3 Exciting Trades The Pittsburgh Steelers Should Make Heading Into 2023

The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to do everything in their power to build around their young leader, quarterback Kenny Pickett. Pickett is going into his sophomore season in the NFL, and everyone is excited to see the steps he will take in his career. Head Coach Mike Tomlin was quoted recently saying he thinks the quarterback will "kill It" in the upcoming season, and the Steelers are taking the proper steps to assure that happens.

Whether it's looking to beef up the offensive line or add pieces on the defensive side of the ball to take pressure off the offense, they'll do whatever it takes. Here are three players that have been linked to the Steelers by Bleacher Report to upgrade the team on both offense and defense.

Steelers Look For An Upgrade At Right Tackle

The Green Bay Packers right tackle Yosh Nijman would be a perfect player for the Steelers to target in 2023. At only 27, Nijman is an integral piece of the Packer's line and will need to maintain that for the upcoming year. The Packers fan base would be rocked at the movement of Nijman, especially with an unproven player like Jordan Love starting his first season. Nijman can play both sides of the line and would be the optimal move for a young team looking to add proven talent around a young quarterback. Nijman would allow the Steelers to have two young anchors on the line and could be a player the Steelers look at signing to a long-term deal.

The Steelers Could Use This Same Strategy With A Different Tackle

Terrence Steele is a young 25-year-old that is working himself back from injury now with the Dallas Cowboys. The injury will be the toughest thing to look over, working himself back now from an ACL and MCL tear, the player has played right tackle and could look to fill a hole in the Steeler's offensive line. Steele will be available during the 2024 free agency, but if the Steelers feel strongly about Steele, do not be surprised if a move is made. At OTAs in Dallas, Steele still is not ready for some drills, but this could be a look at a midseason trade that the Steelers could make if they feel they have a shot halfway through the season.

Could The Steelers Also Be Looking On The Defensive Side Of The Ball?

The Arizona Cardinals' Isaiah Simmons has not been what the Cardinals were hoping for when they drafted him eighth overall in 2020. Simmons has 7.5 sacks in three seasons and is looking to increase his value for the upcoming free agency. In a situation that is reminiscent of Melvin Ingram a few years ago, Simmons could be the perfect rotation guy that the team is looking for between their two stars TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith

With Highsmith due a contract soon, Simmons could also be a player that might be able to replace him if he works out in 2023. With free agency pending, Simmons should not take much to get via trade, and at only 24 years old, he becomes a low-risk high reward for the Steelers moving forward throughout the year.
