One of the Pittsburgh Steelers' most promising young stars, George Pickens has already started his 2023 campaign impressively. During training camp, he has burned defenders and made one of the best catches in the whole league against rookie cornerback, Joey Porter Jr. Then in the Steelers' first game of the preseason, with few reps, was able to get a 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback, Kenny Pickett. Although he hasn't done anything in the regular season just yet, fans are expecting a monster year from Pickens.

The Steelers Are Expecting Great Things For Pickens

Not only do the Steelers have high expectations for Pickens, but many other respected people do as well. One person that has come around to loving him is former Steelers safety, Ryan Clark. Recently, he was on NFL Live, where he made yet another bold take. While on there, he would comment that he thinks that Pickens is much more talented than All-Pro wide receiver, Justin Jefferson.

"George Pickens is much more talented than Justin Jefferson." Clark then said, "Coach Tomlin told me something that I thought was great. He said they didn't even work to tolerate him, and they certainly didn't try to raise him in Georgia. They didn't embrace who George Pickens is."

The city of Pittsburgh has certainly come to love and embrace Pickens. Other than Pickett, Pickens has to be one of the most loved players by fans, as well as the entire organization. Clark mentioned that he had a conversation with former Steelers cornerback and current scout Ike Taylor about how the team feels.

"Talking to Ike Taylor about the way that the entire team loves his attitude, loves the way that he approaches his job, that's what the Pittsburgh Steelers have done."

Although Clark has made some heated debates in the past, he has never backed down from what he's said. Even with him saying that Pickens is much more talented than Jefferson, he stood by that statement. Someone on X even went as far as to say that Clark had a bias toward Pickens because he played for the Steelers. That person would also say that Pickens doesn't compare to Garrett Wilson.

With the work that Pickens has put in during the offseason, he looks like he could be the Steelers' next great wide receiver. He has become a very versatile receiver and has the potential to be in the top five this season.

Having Pickens' arsenal and all of the talent around him should set the Steelers up to be in a position to make a championship run. Not only on their insane defense, but what they have on their offense could create for something special.

If Pickens can manage to be better than Jefferson, then the Steelers may have someone truly special. At just 24 years old, Jefferson has already been the Offensive Player of the Year, three-time Pro Bowler, NFL receiving yards and reception leader, and much more. If Pickens can come close to accomplishing these things in the next few years, he could be a once-in-a-generation talent.
