Steelers' Matt Canada Takes Brutal Shot From Antonio Brown Over Simplistic Play-Calling

The Pittsburgh Steelers had every opportunity to go into their 2023 Week 4 matchup against the Houston Texans and leave with a big win. Not only did that not happen, but the Steelers offense was just as bad as it has ever been under Matt Canada, and any remaining patience was burned up under the Texas sun. One person in particular took notice of the elementary school level of plays that Canada was calling: Antonio Brown. It didn't take long for Brown to get on social media, and from there, it became a roast of the coordinator, as only Brown could do.

Steelers Called Out By Antonio Brown

It isn't an uncommon thing for Brown to get on X (formerly known as Twitter) and make his feelings on a wide variety of subjects known. This time, though, he wasn't flailing wildly; he had a target in mind. Brown was watching the same debacle all fans were as the Steelers fell to the Texans, but he had a platform where people would pay attention, and pay attention they did as Brown directly copied a tweet from NFL analytic expert, Warren Sharp.

Brown began by putting the Steelers on notice for their horrible offensive game plan. Now, you would be hard-pressed to find a single Steelers fan who would disagree with what Brown said, but it was taken to another level when Eric Ebron jumped onto the "Fire Matt Canada" bandwagon.

It's one thing for fans to get on social media and spout off about their teams, but when an active NFL player recognizes the incompetence of a coach in the league, it stands out. Ebron may not have wanted to say it, but you can't really get more public than quoting a polarizing player like Brown and putting your opinion right there for everyone to see. Again, though, you'd have a hard time finding someone to disagree with what either former player is saying about Canada's ability and creativity.

Steelers Being Roasted By Brown Online By Honest Assessments

Brown is hardly alone in his views on Canada. The battle between fans and the organization has been going on since early in 2022 to fire the maligned offensive coordinator, but the exact opposite happened during the 2023 offseason. Rather than contribute to the growth of Kenny Pickett, as Mike Tomlin was hoping it would, everything has been in a negative reversal of fortune ever since the 2023 season began.

Steelers wide receivers, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders, know what offensive production looks like and Canada's offense falls short in 2023

The first half of the 2023 Week 4 game against the Texans did absolutely nothing to quell the masses shouting for Canada to lose his job. The complete lack of productivity by Pittsburgh's offense on behalf of their mediocre play-caller was on display not only on television but across social media.

The posts from Brown weren't done yet, especially with the rest of the online world putting similar opinions up as well. The former Steelers receiver went a step further following his initial post. While it is certainly effective to put forth an astute, correct view of a situation (like Brown did in his first tweet that Ebron quoted) sometimes you just need Madden.

The Steelers have a game against the Baltimore Ravens before their 2023 bye week, and there is a massive amount of work to be done. Tomlin made it clear following the loss to Houston that there would be changes made, but one has to wonder the extent of those changes. Will Canada upgrade to the latest version of Madden to ensure his playbook is up to speed, or will the Steelers finally take this situation seriously?

If Canada is still the offensive coordinator following their 2023 bye, then we will all have our answer. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that, but it's good to know that Brown is ready to throw in his two cents whenever needed.
