The Pittsburgh Steelers are lucky to have, arguably, the best defensive player on the planet in edge rusher, TJ Watt. The 2021 AP Defensive Player of the Year has proven to be invaluable. The organization wins games with him in the lineup and when he is on the sidelines, the defense is noticeably weaker. He is once again in the conversation to be named the best defensive player in the league at the conclusion of the 2023 season. His biggest competition can certainly be considered to be Dallas Cowboys linebacker, Micah Parsons and a Pittsburgh arch nemesis in Myles Garrett, who plays for the Cleveland Browns.

As the Steelers enjoy a Sunday off after a Thursday Night Football victory against the Tennessee Titans, they are keeping a close eye on what both the Browns and Baltimore Ravens are doing during the 1:00 slate. The Ravens and the Seattle Seahawks is one of the best contests on the Week 9 schedule and the two teams were given the best CBS broadcast team available. Jim Nantz and Tony Romo traveled to the Steelers' rival's stadium to call the game.
Somehow, Garrett found his way into a conversation between the two. Seahawks linebacker, Boye Mafe, forced a fumble as quarterback, Lamar Jackson sat in the pocket. The strip sack led to a turnover and Romo, although probably not intentional, heavily disrespected Watt, as fans have come accustomed to. He did the opposite with Garrett, however.
"He's getting to the quarterback as fast as anyone in the National Football League. Only Myles Garrett can get to the quarterback as quickly as this guy. When I say that I mean he gets off the ball, gets around the quarterback very quickly, you see here."
There's no denying that Garrett is a monster on the defensive side of the ball, but it's improper to mention him in that kind of conversation without bringing up Watt and San Francisco 49ers defender, Nick Bosa. Parsons is incredibly quick as well.

Romo also said in his analysis that the main guy in Seattle that needs to be game-planned for from an offensive standpoint is Mafe. Similar to how teams prepare intensely for Watt, Bosa and Garrett and Parsons.
"Mafe is probably the number one guy when you go against this defense, you're like 'that's the guy we gotta block," Romo said as the Seahawks celebrated in the end zone.
Watt has nine and a half sacks on the year after the Titans game and isn't showing any signs of slowing down. The comments from Romo are particularly interesting because Watt is insanely fast off the line of scrimmage and bull-rushes his way into opposing quarterback's faces. Teams have to change their strategy and get the ball out of the signal-caller's hand as quickly as possible when Watt is coming off of the edge.
This isn't taking anything away from Garrett. There isn't much of a conversation when it comes to the best pass rushers in the NFL. Watt, Parsons, Bosa and Garrett himself are the unquestioned top four in the league. Romo may have not been thinking of Watt because he's not playing on Sunday, but if you are going to bring up one dominant AFC North defender, the other needs to be talked about in the same conversation.

Steelers Fans Will Gladly Continue To Enjoy Watt's Dominance
One thing is for sure. Pittsburgh fans are never going to get tired of watching Watt wreck games on the defensive side of the ball. He is consistently forgotten about and not give nearly enough praise, despite earning it on the football field. The Steelers are lucky to have him and last time anyone checked, he has a Defensive Player of the Year trophy, and Garrett does not. Romo was wrong not to give him a shout out after going out of his way to compliment Garrett.
