The Pittsburgh Steelers don't have a ton of depth at the safety position, or should we say they just don't have a lot of talent at the position outside of Minkah Fitzpatrick? Either way the team is adding some depth to the room. Veteran free agent Eric Rowe worked out for the team a few days ago, and now he's signing with the Steelers. Rowe has experience playing cornerback, and both safety positions in the NFL.

It's being reported by Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review that Rowe has a locker at the teams South Side practice facility.

Rowe, 31, has bounced around the league with a few different teams after being drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He was traded to the New England Patriots after only one season in Philadelphia. The Eagles gave up on Rowe fairly quickly after trading up in the second round to secure him.
While in New England Rowe started 10 games over 3 seasons. He eventually landed in Miami and moved from cornerback to safety. He started 29 games for the Dolphins his first two seasons playing both safety positions.

In 2019 Rowe intercepted Tom Brady and returned it for his only touchdown of his career. Rowe has 381 tackles, 109 tackles for a loss, and 5 interceptions for his career. Last season he only started 6 games for the Dolphins, but he played in 14 games total. Despite only starting in 6 games he recorded 2 forced fumbles, and 2 sacks. When the Steelers played in Miami last season Rowe recorded 2 tackles.
Rowe signed with the Carolina Panthers this offseason and was played on their practice squad to begin the season. He was eventually released by the Panthers in September.
