The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills are currently in a holding pattern, waiting to find out when Mother Nature will cooperate enough for them to be able to play their Wild Card game. It was originally scheduled for Sunday, but has been moved to Monday. However, the constant blizzard-like conditions and the travel restrictions have rumors circulating about the game potentially being delayed an additional day.

Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills 2023 Wild Card matchup was already moved once due to weather
This has given fans of both teams added time to speculate about the game, including how they think the weather will hurt or hinder each team. Both teams have been platynig well and one former Steeler says that Pittsburgh should be playing for revenge in addition to pride.
Former Steelers Lineman Said Buffalo Deserves To Lose
Ramon Foster, who played offensive guard for the Steelers for 11 seasons, now co-hosts a podcast with Pittsburgh sports reporter Dejan Kovacevic. The show, called The Ramon Foster Show, airs on DK Pittsburgh Sports. Like all of Pittsburgh media, the two have been talking non-stop about the game and what the keys are to the Steelers' success.

The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Buffalo Bills for training camp in Latrobe in 2014.
One thing that helps the Steelers, according to the two, is how well Pittsburgh knows Buffalo. Of course that goes both ways. While they may not be in the same division, they are in the same conference and have played each other quite a bit. The two teams even conducted joint practices together in Latrobe, PA. several years ago. Foster added that there is one factor that he sees as the most important, one reason why the Steelers really must win this game. Revenge.
"If anything for this weekend, we need some payback on them for suckering us into signing Mitch Trubisky," Foster exclaimed.
Mitch Trubisky, who has been the Steelers' backup quarterback for the majority of the 2023 season, has been a letdown in Pittsburgh. Originally drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2017 in the first round with the second overall pick, he spent four seasons in the Windy City. Unfortunately, Trubisky did not live up to all the expectations that came with his draft pick. In fact, he is frequently described as a draft bust.

If Steelers QB Mitch Trubisky gets cut, he will be on his fourth team in 2024
Maybe "bust" is harsh, but the Bills passed up on drafting both Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson to select him. It is probably hard to not feel a bit salty if you are a Bears fan and watching the magic that has been happening in Kansas City. The Bears declined Trubisky's fifth-year option on his contract despite winning the quarterback competition to Nick Foles in 2020. To be fair, Trubisky had a lot of turmoil thrown his way including changes in coaching staff.
In 2021, Trubisky signed a one-year contract with the Bills to be a backup to Josh Allen. No team was interested in him as a starter. Part of the appeal to the Steelers was that while he wasn't the starting quarterback, he was there learning from the same staff that turned Allen into an MVP candidate.
Kovacevic said that the Bills really do take some of the blame for us being stuck with Trubisky. The Bills praised Trubisky to former General Manager Kevin Colbert. They said that he had improved, had made a lot of progress and really changed things. The two said the one thing that Buffalo said that was true is that Trubisky is a "great team guy."

Trubisky "won" the starting job in Pittsburgh for the 2022 season over then-rookie Kenny Pickett and longtime Steelers backup Mason Rudolph. Unfortunately, his old patterns immediately emerged and he was benched early in the season in favor of Pickett. After Pickett was named the starter in 2023, Trubisky was named as second on the depth chart.
He'd get various opportunities to play whenever Pickett got injured, including his recent shot. That supposed learning that Buffalo spoke about must not have happened or at least we did see it. He cost Pittsburgh three games in a row and nearly lost us a shot at the postseason. Fortunately, Head Coach Mike Tomlin made the bold move to bench Trubisky once again, this time for Rudolph.
What do you think Steeler Nation? Did Buffalo do Pittsburgh a little dirty by "passing the trash?'" Who do you think is the best quarterback on the roster? What do you think should or will happen with Trubisky at the end of this season? Who should be the starting quarterback in 2024? Tell us what is on your mind. Click to comment below.
