One of the biggest decisions for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2024 season will be to figure out who their offensive coordinator is going to be. After the decision was made to fire Matt Canada, there has been plenty of speculation about who is up next. With Head Coach Mike Tomlin making the announcement in his end-of-season press conference to look outside the organization for the job, the ball has seemed to start rolling with interviews.

The Steelers Search Started
The Steelers search started with a big-time target in Zac Robinson. Robinson is one of the bigger candidates this offseason for an offensive coordinator position and has already secured multiple interviews with multiple other teams. He is currently the quarterbacks coach for the Los Angeles Rams and is another coach to fall from Sean McVay's coaching tree.
Pittsburgh's next target also happened to come from McVay's coaching tree. On Wednesday, the Steelers announced that they met with Thomas Brown, who previously was the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, as well as an assistant coach and tight ends coach for the Rams. Brown is a younger coach with a lot of potential upside.
The last candidate that has been reported to potentially meet with the Steelers is Kliff Kingsbury. One of the most intriguing names for fans, Kingsbury was once the head coach for the Arizona Cardinals. After his time with Arizona, he joined the USC Trojans and helped further develop this year's potential number-one overall pick, Caleb Williams. Fans hope that he can bring some of that experience to Pittsburgh to help form their next franchise quarterback.

There is one name that has been standing out above the rest. The San Francisco 49ers passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak is a "must grab" target, much like Robinson. Kubiak is the son of former head coach, Gary Kubiak, and for being as young as he is, has gained a good amount of experience in the NFL as a coach.

The main reason that the Steelers haven't been in contact with him yet is that the 49ers are currently still in the playoffs. If they manage to make it to the Super Bowl, Pittsburgh would not be allowed to be in contact with him until February 12. Hopefully if the Steelers were to bring in Kubiak, he would be someone to finally spark the offense and help develop the talent that is there into an exceptional unit.

It seems like all of Pittsburgh media is on board with the idea of bringing in Kubiak as the Steelers' next offensive coordinator. One former Steelers player who thinks he would be a great fit is two-time Super Bowl champion Max Starks. Starks was recently on the Pod Me Up podcast where he was asked by another former Steelers player Trai Essex who he thinks would be a good fit for the position.
"I would say Klint Kubiak," said Starks. "Klint has been an OC before. He's been on a couple of different staffs, his tentacles run a little bit longer, with his dad Gary having an extended network. So, I look at that and say, 'Okay, that is one that has not been mentioned because they are still playing.'"
The biggest thing that could come from the Steelers' signing Kubiak is the potential that is there. At only 36 years old, his coaching career has just started and has already proven to be one of the bright young minds in the NFL. If the Steelers do happen to bring him in, it also finally adds a bigger name to Tomlin's coaching tree.
