The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most successful franchises in NFL history, and they have a reputation for fielding strong teams year after year. However, their quarterback situation has been a topic of discussion lately, as the team has been linked to several players in recent weeks. Until they figure out their quarterback situation, the Steelers won’t be regarded as legit contenders in the league.

At this point, it's still too early to say what the Steelers' plans are for the quarterback position. While the organization seems to be content with Kenny Pickett as their starter for the upcoming season, there are still plenty of rumors and speculation surrounding the team's quarterback situation.

Regardless of what happens with Pickett, the Steelers will still need to add some depth to their quarterback room. They could look to trade for a veteran quarterback, sign a free agent, or even draft a quarterback in this year's loaded draft class.

Suppose the Steelers decide to acquire a seasoned quarterback such as Russell Wilson. In that case, it is plausible that Pickett, the current starting quarterback, would be relegated to the bench. It's reasonable to assume that if the Steelers were to bring in a more experienced player, they would intend to start them, making it less likely that they would stick with Pickett as the starting QB.

While the Steelers are unlikely to use an early draft pick on a quarterback, there's still a good chance they'll select one at some point in the later rounds. Of course, much will depend on what happens in the coming weeks and months, but one thing is certain: the Steelers will be looking to improve their quarterback situation in 2024.

Steelers' Kenny Pickett Is Less Talented Than Spencer Rattler According To CBS Analyst

During a recent show on 93.7 The Fan, Ryan Wilson, an NFL Draft analyst for CBS Sports, shared his thoughts on the upcoming draft and what the Steelers should do with their quarterback position. Wilson's suggestions were quite thought-provoking and could potentially shake things up for the Steelers.

“I look at a guy like Spencer Rattler,” Wilson said on 93.7 The Fan. “Rattler has better physical tools than Kenny Pickett. It’s not even close.”

Wilson has been closely analyzing the draft prospects and the quarterback position, which is a crucial position for any NFL team. During the show, he expressed his belief that the Steelers should consider drafting a quarterback in the later rounds of the draft. While some fans may be hesitant about this idea to draft Spencer Rattler, Wilson explained that he believes he’s already more talented than Pickett.

Overall, Wilson's insights were informative, and it's clear that he has a deep understanding of the draft and the quarterback position. It will be interesting to see if the Steelers follow his advice and snag a quarterback in the draft. They will have plenty of chances to draft one it appears with how much talent is in this draft class.

Rattler's college career at Oklahoma began in 2019, where he redshirted his freshman year after seeing action in three games. In 2020, he secured the starting quarterback position, leading the Sooners to a Big 12 Championship, despite facing challenges during the season. The following year, Rattler was benched mid-season in favor of Caleb Williams and ultimately transferred to the University of South Carolina

In 2022, as South Carolina's starting quarterback, he experienced mixed performances, but notably led the team to back-to-back wins against top 10 teams, achieving the program's highest rankings in years. Despite a loss in the Gator Bowl, Rattler's impact was evident as he chose to return for the 2023 season, where he continued to excel before declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft after accepting an invitation to the Senior Bowl, where he was named MVP.

Although Rattler's college journey began with some challenges, he successfully turned things around. Finishing on a high note, he's now recognized as a talented project quarterback with significant potential. Projections place him as a third or fourth round draft pick, representing a blend of uncertainty and promise. While not without risks, he could be an ideal candidate for the Steelers in the later stages of the draft.
