There's no doubt that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be searching for quarterbacks to fill their position room this offseason, as current starter Kenny Pickett is the only signal-caller on the roster. It will be an interesting time for Steelers fans to see how serious the front office is about taking that next step they have been talking about. With many quarterbacks on the market, veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson shared his thoughts on who the Steelers should potentially bring in.

After ultimately scratching quarterback Kirk Cousins from the list, Peterson confidently stated on All Things Covered that he would take Russell Wilson if it were on a team-friendly deal. Peterson expresses high value of Wilson's game as a quarterback, but also believes he's worth more money than most would like. Co-host and cousin, Bryant McFadden believes the Super Bowl XLVIII winner should only receive something around a one-year deal worth $10 million or less. Peterson strongly thinks Wilson would want almost twice as much as that.

Peterson is very high on Wilson's ability to still play at a high level, mentioning he loves his deep ball and ability to throw on the run. Peterson believes Wilson was misused in Denver as their starting quarterback and says to be a good fit for Pittsburgh, he just needs to get the ball to where it needs to be. Peterson even went as far to say he would take Wilson over a current fan favorite, Justin Fields.

Steelers will have an opportunity to trade for Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields.
"I had an opportunity to play against Justin Fields twice. He's another guy who has had offensive coordinator issues, has not really had a solid team around him to really help him develop and grow, but I like Russell Wilson's throwing motion more than Justin Fields, especially the deep ball."
The deep ball has been something that the Steelers have missed the past couple of seasons too. Wide receivers like George Pickens and Diontae Johnson would love to see the ball in the air deep down field more often. With more deep balls involved, that would only open up the running game even more, which has seemed to be this team's identity in recent seasons. The Steelers have been winning in spite of their quarterback play for the last couple of years. With a quarterback that can throw for touchdowns consistently, the Steelers would be lethal along with their dominant defense.
"We also know Russell is not going to be a mobile quarterback, the Russell we normally see making those :10 second plays. We just need him to get the ball in the right place. Russ does not turn the ball over either."
Wilson finished his second season in Denver with 26 passing touchdowns and 8 interceptions. The Steelers have not reached even 20 passing touchdowns in a single season since future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger retired at the end of the 2021 season. In Pickett's two seasons combined, the quarterback has only accounted for 13 passing touchdowns.
"I feel like the last two systems are not the systems for Russ."
When McFadden brings up new Offensive Coordinator, Arthur Smith, Peterson says Wilson would fit his system perfectly. With two great running backs, you can run a lot of play-action and take the shots over the top. Peterson gives a lot of fair points as to why Wilson would be a good fit for the offense, but many question Wilson's ability as he's getting older. The Steelers need to get some help in the quarterback room if they want to take their next step, which is to win another Super Bowl. First and foremost though, they need to get back to winning playoff games. The franchise has gone seven seasons without winning in the postseason, and it's time for a change.
