Miller, who helped guide the Steelers to two Super Bowl Championships during his time in Pittsburgh, will take over for former Head Coach, Joe Sandoe, who went 7-10 in his two-year career with St. Anne’s.

In a press release on Monday, Director of Athletics Seth Kushkin touched on the impact Sandoe had with the Saints.

"We are excited for the passion and football experience that Heath will bring to our football program. We are grateful to Joe for his wonderful leadership, tireless work, and passion he brought to our program."

Miller comes in to coach a program that is coming off a 6-3 season and a playoff loss to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. Miller spoke about his excitement to coach the same team that his son currently plays for.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end, Heath Miller and his family made an appearance during training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA on July 30, 2022.

“I’m looking forward to leading the Saints Football program for the 2024 season. I hope to build off of the solid foundation that Coach Sandoe has worked tirelessly to build. It’s my goal to field a team that models the proper values on the field and off.”

Head of School Autumn Graves, is excited to utilize this experience, to better the team’s overall program.

“This is an invaluable experience for our football players to be coached by someone who has played the sport at the highest level. And while many will focus on his impressive stats as one of the Steelers’ most renowned players, I know what is most meaningful to Heath as a parent at our school is that he will have the opportunity to model excellent leadership, teamwork, and character development for the future generation.”

Though the schedule for the 2024 high school football season has yet to be announced, Miller will look to guide the Saints to their first consecutive winning season since they hit that mark from 2018-2020.

Miller's Collegiate and Steelers Career

This will be Miller's first time coaching in his career, as he will return to the same state where he played college football. Miller was a unanimous All-American and Mackey Award winner with the Virginia Cavaliers, setting records at tight end including receptions (144), yards (1,703), and touchdowns (20).

Apart from two Super Bowl victories in Super Bowl XL and XLIII, he was named Team MVP in 2012. Miller retired in 2016 as the Steelers All-Time leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns on his way to being named to the Steelers Hall of Honor in 2022.
