The Pittsburgh Steelers seemed to have pulled off another incredible draft after a lot of things fell the right way for General Manager Omar Khan. The highlight of the team's picks has to focus on the offensive line as one could argue the organization landed top three players at their respective positions in Troy Fautanu and Zach Frazier. One of the things that really worked out for the franchise was waiting for the proper time to pick a wide receiver, a position that was desperately needed. After a couple rounds of patience, University of Michigan pass-catcher Roman Wilson was sitting and waiting at 84th overall.

Steelers General Manager Omar Khan poses for a photo as he interacts with fans while the team practices during training camp at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA.

The former Wolverine left college with a National Championship ring following Michigan's undefeated season. In a run-heavy offense, he was still able to haul in 48 receptions for 789 yards, but what was most impressive was his ability to get into the end zone. He caught 12 touchdown passes, which will immediately excite fans in the Steel City.

Wilson joined Kevin Adams and Jersey Jerry on the Steel Here podcast to talk about being drafted by Pittsburgh. Many thought the Los Angeles Chargers may scoop him up for a reunion with Jim Harbaugh on the Los Angeles Chargers, but that didn't end up being the case. After Khan called in the pick, it didn't take long for a couple of University of Wisconsin Badgers to reach out, who also play in the Big 10. Additionally, an Ohio State alumni contacted him, as well.

"TJ Watt reached out to me. He was the first one to text me once I got drafted. Nick Herbig, I went to high school with him. He obviously texted me. Uh [Justin] Fields and Russ [Wilson] been reaching out, so you know, it's been good."

Starting with TJ Watt, he's recognized as one of the leaders on the team, but there's no doubt that he's all business all the time. Welcoming Roman Wilson quickly displays his strong presence and leadership in the locker room. Nick Herbig and Roman Wilson, as he mentioned, played in high school together, only to end up at Big 10 rival schools in college.

Former Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Nick Herbig gets excited after making a huge play for his team during a home game at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, WI.

It also makes all the sense in the world that his two new quarterbacks have been reaching out to begin developing a chemistry with the rookie. Justin Fields was a Buckeye for the final two seasons of his collegiate career, while Russell Wilson played one season at Wisconsin before being drafted. Despite all of their colleges having rivalries, it's being put past them at the next level in the NFL.

Reaching out to new teammates isn't uncommon in the league, but it's encouraging to hear the stories about newcomers being welcomed by the guys they will be playing with for the foreseeable future. Chemistry between a quarterback and his wide receivers is even more pivotal. Both Russell Wilson and Fields touching base and communicating with Roman Wilson is a great sign that should get fans excited for what's to come.

Steelers Will Need Roman Wilson's Best With Questionable Receiving Core

Pittsburgh didn't make a big trade for a pass-catcher, despite there being a glaring hole on the depth chart. Roman Wilson has a tough task ahead of him. he will need to step in as a rookie and make an immediate impact. He should have his chance if George Pickens is doubled consistently, but there won't be much time to get acclimated to the NFL. New teammates reaching out to him is the first step in being ready for the biggest stage of them all.
