The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Isaiah Buggs in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, marking the beginning of his professional football journey. As a rookie, Buggs struggled to make a significant impact, appearing in just nine games and recording three tackles. Despite his potential, the Steelers decided to release him on January 8, 2022.

Following his departure from Pittsburgh, Buggs signed to the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad, followed by the Detroit Lions, where he spent the next two seasons working to prove his worth. In January 2024, he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad, and by February, he had secured a reserves/futures contract with the team. Buggs' perseverance was rewarded when he became part of the Chiefs' Super Bowl-winning squad for the 2023 season, adding a championship to his achievements.
However, the offseason presented new challenges. According to Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs have informed Buggs that he will be released from the team, marking another significant moment in his career. This release comes after a offseason filled with legal issues for Buggs.

The offseason has been a nightmare for Buggs. His release comes amidst a series of legal issues that have emerged recently. Carol Robinson of AL.com detailed Buggs' most recent arrest and explained the circumstances that led to his bond being revoked.
"Buggs, 27, was arrested Sunday morning on charges of second-degree domestic violence and second-degree burglary. He was on a 24-hour domestic violence hold with bond set at $5,000 and was released early Monday. Prosecutors this morning filed a motion to revoke Buggs’ bond on the animal cruelty charges because a condition of his earlier release was to not commit any new crimes."
Just a month prior to his most recent arrest, Buggs was booked on animal cruelty charges. Authorities found malnourished dogs at Buggs' rental home in Tuscaloosa and claimed they were neglected. Buggs, through his agent, stated that he was unaware of the dogs' presence and that they were not his.

The Chiefs had not released Buggs until the latest news of his arrest on Sunday morning on charges of second-degree domestic violence. This incident might mark the end of Buggs' NFL career. With multiple run-ins with the law and already struggling to stay on an NFL roster, the likelihood of Buggs getting another chance in the league has significantly diminished.

However, Buggs found a more significant role after joining Detroit, where his performance began to show greater promise.
