Brown is now in his third season as the secondary coach in Pittsburgh. In his first season coaching the defensive backs, his group combined for a total of 11 interceptions. He has done a solid job with the defensive backs and has helped develop Steelers star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick during his tenure.
Despite his success, Brown has yet to secure a position as a defensive coordinator in the NFL, a goal he is hopeful to achieve. Brown discussed his coaching journey and his aspirations on the From The Hill Podcast. He expressed his belief that he has proven himself and is ready for the opportunity to become a coordinator in the NFL.
"I'll be ready when my opportunities come, and I wouldn't be surprised if it happened in the near future," Brown said. "I'm just making sure that we play good defense in Pittsburgh for now."
In an interview with Steelers.com back in February 2023, Brown confidently expressed his belief in his potential to rise to the position of a coordinator in his career.
"After being in the NFL for two years now and getting a better handle on the game and seeing what our game is about, I believe I have the talent to be a coordinator at some point in my career."
Brown conveyed a strong sense of assurance in his capability to lead and manage a defensive unit, leaving no doubt about his confidence and ambition in taking on such a significant role in the future.
Brown's unwavering self-assurance and clear vision for his career path highlight his readiness and determination to excel in higher responsibilities within the league.

Steelers fans and the organization are particularly excited about their young cornerback, Joey Porter Jr. In the 2023 season, Porter displayed confidence, vocal leadership, and impressive performance as a rookie. As he enters his second season under the guidance of Brown, anticipation is high for the leap Porter is expected to make.

With new talent and fresh faces in the secondary, Brown will be in the spotlight in 2024. The Steelers' defense is loaded, and the secondary unit will need to step up and shut down opposing offenses. If Brown can have his group ready and they deliver a dominant year, it will be intriguing to see if he eventually earns an opportunity as a coordinator. He is confident in his ability to rise to that level in the NFL, and while it is a great goal of his, for now, he is focused on leading his room to dominance in the upcoming season.
This bolstered secondary, combined with the leadership and development of young talents like Porter, sets the stage for a potentially formidable defensive performance by the Steelers in 2024. The team's success will heavily rely on the secondary's ability to adapt and excel, making this an exciting season for both the players and the fans.
