The Pittsburgh Steelers are reporting to training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, and it feels like Christmas morning for the fans. However, instead of a tree, everyone gathers around their social media feeds, waiting for the latest updates and photos.

Steelers QB Russell Wilson arrives in Latrobe.
Anticipation has been building all offseason, especially to see the new quarterbacks: Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Wilson has been visible since being signed by Pittsburgh. He has been working out with his new teammates and attending various events in his new city.
Wilson's career is receiving another chance in the Steel City. After winning a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks early in his career, he has continued to chase the dream of another Lombardi Trophy. He expected to be able to do that with the Denver Broncos, but things between him and Head Coach Sean Payton did not work out. Ultimately, the Broncos paid him to leave, which was when Pittsburgh stepped up.
On a one-year contract, Wilson told reporters Wednesday that he is still fighting for that championship and knows what it takes to get there. According to Dale Lolley from Steelers.com, Wilson is ready to prove himself.
"Our mission is to win it all, to win the Super Bowl. But we've got to do the work necessary. It doesn't just happen overnight. That's in our control."
Wilson wowed followers on social media with videos of him looking ripped and fit. He is already showing his leadership qualities by taking several teammates to California to workout with him. His fellow Steelers teammates are rallying around him, and they believe he can lead the team to win in the playoffs this season.

Most experts feel that Wilson will thrive in Pittsburgh under the stability provided by Head Coach Mike Tomlin. The team brought in new Offensive Coordinator, Arthur Smith, who tends to call a run-heavy offense, which will play to Wilson's strengths while minimizing some of his weaker areas. Wilson told Lolley that mindset is the biggest part of success.
"Internally, your expectations for yourself have to be higher than everyone else's. I remember when I was a rookie, I was a third-round pick, the 75th pick overall. I was the third-string quarterback on the roster. I was determined I was going to take that job. That's got to be the mentality every day. That's the mentality every day. Try to be your best. God has given me a ton of talent. Anyone that's here staying in those dorms has a ton of talent. How do we make the most of that? You do it with great confidence and composure and an edge when you play."
He has certainly shown he can remain cool under pressure. During his 12 years in the league, Wilson has been selected to nine Pro Bowls. His all-time record is 115-72-1, and he has thrown for more than 43,000 yards, 334 touchdowns, and 106 interceptions.

Wilson feels like a solid step up from the 2023 quarterback situation. Despite his struggles in Denver, he completed 66.4% of his passes for 26 touchdowns in 15 games. That is double what Pittsburgh's quarterbacks could do in 17 games.
Is Steelers' Justin Fields Ready To Compete?
While Tomlin has said that Wilson will be given "pole position" to start based on his experience and success, Fields is being given a shot at competing. This has Steeler Nation divided over what should be done with Fields. Some believe his athleticism and age make him the better quarterback, but others feel he needs time behind a seasoned vet like Wilson to develop.

Recently, former Steelers safety Ryan Clark expressed concerns for Fields. There have been questionable reports that the Chicago Bears played to lose during Fields' time with the team. Even if that isn't true, it is clear that he wasn't adequately developed. Clark feels that Pittsburgh will have to evaluate him psychologically and how his first few years have impacted his ability to play.
