Steelers Fans Receive Big News As Raiders Are Calling About Potential Davante Adams Trade

The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently sitting near the top of the AFC with a 3-1 record, but there are still clear holes throughout the roster. One of the obvious weaknesses is at wide receiver, and this has been a known weakness since the start of training camp. George Pickens has had a good season so far, but outside of him, there are still question marks at the position. Pittsburgh has seen other players contribute, but getting another top-tier receiver would seriously raise the potential of the team.

The Steelers were heavily involved in the exhausting Brandon Aiyuk saga throughout the offseason, but the receiver ended up signing a new deal with the San Francisco 49ers. A beat reporter for the Las Vegas Raiders has confirmed that the organization is now open to dealing veteran wide receiver Davante Adams, and the Steelers should be obvious candidates to land the perennial All-Pro.

Rumors swirled throughout the offseason that Las Vegas may be interested in dealing Adams if the team got off to a rough start. They currently sit at 2-2, but there has been some clear disconnect between the organization, the coaching staff, and the receiver. There is obvious turmoil with the Raiders, which may lead to the team parting ways with Adams.

The rumors of a potential deal involving Adams picked up on Monday after it was revealed that Head Coach Antonio Pierce liked a post on Instagram that suggested Adams has played his last snap with the Raiders and will be traded. Adams appeared on the show Up & Adams on Tuesday and shared that he hasn't spoken with anyone from the team. This obviously makes fans believe his time with the Raiders is running out.

Adams has appeared in just three games for the Raiders during the 2024 season, and he has tallied 209 receiving yards to go with one touchdown. He is still a very productive player, although he missed the Week 4 contest due to a hamstring injury. There has been times during the 2024 season and the 2023 season where Adams has been visibly frustrated with the team on the sidelines, and it is becoming more likely the receiver will be dealt before the trade deadline on November 5th.

Steelers Would Need To Make A Large Financial Commitment To Adams

The Raiders have reportedly already begun calling other teams around the league trying to gauge interest on a deal for the wide receiver, and with how desperate Pittsburgh was to land Aiyuk, it makes sense they would call up General Manager Omar Khan. Adams is currently signed through the 2026 season, and his cap hit is significant. Adams has a base salary of roughly $35.6 million in each of the next two seasons, and a cap hit of $25.3 million in 2024.

If Pittsburgh were to trade for him in the middle of the season, they likely wouldn't be paying that entire amount, but the cost would still be significant. There haven't been any reports on what kind of trade compensation the Raiders would desire, but it would probably be substantial. Whatever team Adams gets traded to would be taking on a bit of a financial burden, which could help the trade compensation go down.
