The Pittsburgh Steelers’ former fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Dan Moore Jr., has had to fight for everything in the Steel City. While many Steelers fans were eager for the team to move on from Moore, he never lost faith in himself. Over his four-year career, Moore has started 53 games for Pittsburgh.

Despite being a consistent starter, fans hoped he would eventually be replaced. Moore struggled at times during the 2023 season, but managed to hold onto his starting job. Heading into 2024, few expected him to remain a solid option, yet Moore has exceeded expectations. Pro Football Focus has rewarded him with a respectable 75.9 grade for his performance so far, placing him in the "green" zone, a sign of strong play at left tackle.

In a recent interview with Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Moore openly discussed his belief in himself and his growing confidence. He didn’t hold back, making it clear just how self-assured he feels about his game.

"I'm a guy who works hard. I'm going to bring a certain attitude or mentality to the offensive line," Moore said. "Regardless of who they bring in, I feel like as long as I do what I'm supposed to do, there's nobody better than me."

Moore has faced disrespect from the fan base for quite some time, but he understood the criticism and knew he needed to improve each season.

Now in his fourth season, he’s proving that Steelers fans may have been too harsh in their judgment. Moore recognizes his own value and believes he’s still continuing to get better.

"I feel like my game has elevated in a lot of different ways. It took a little bit of being doused in fire in my early years to figure out how good of a player I truly was and gain confidence."

The Steelers' offensive line has been hit hard by injuries to their starters, but Steeler Nation is certainly glad they held on to Moore. He’s become essential to their success in 2024, exceeding fan expectations. Moore has been impressive, with green grades across the board, indicating he's performed in the upper echelon of tackles this season. His 71.2 pass-blocking grade and 73.4 run-blocking grade reflect his balanced play.

Through four games, Moore has allowed just one sack, five total pressures, and has been penalized only once. He’s been a reliable force on the line, and it’s time Steelers fans start appreciating his contributions rather than criticizing him. Moore acknowledges his early struggles but believes those challenges have shaped him into the player he is today.

Steelers' Offensive Line Could Get A Major Boost Against Dallas

It's exciting to witness Moore's growth. Despite the constant doubt, he's never stopped believing in himself. Now, the Steelers are hoping their offensive line can get healthy and finally become the dominant unit they envisioned for 2024. While the line was expected to improve this season, injuries have held them back.

The Steelers' best lineman, guard Isaac Seumalo, has yet to play in 2024 after suffering an injury before the season. There’s hope Seumalo could return for Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys, which would be a much-needed boost. In the meantime, Moore’s impressive play has been a bright spot, and Steelers fans will be eager to see him continue making his mark in the Steel City.
