The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves back in the trade talks at the wide receiver position. This started, of course, when the Steelers made the bold decision to trade away star wide receiver Diontae Johnson early in the 2024 offseason. They came extremely close to pulling off a major deal with the San Francisco 49ers for Brandon Aiyuk, but that trade fell through at the last minute. Later on, reports surfaced that Pittsburgh was aggressively pursuing Davante Adams, signaling their commitment to finding a top-tier wide receiver.

Despite missing out on both Aiyuk and Adams, the Steelers remain undeterred in their search for a game-changing receiver. Now, they find themselves once again tied to trade rumors involving a high-profile name. Attention has shifted to Los Angeles Rams star Cooper Kupp, who could potentially be on the move. With the Rams reportedly considering parting ways with Kupp, the Steelers have been mentioned as potential suitors in this growing speculation.

For Pittsburgh, landing a player of Kupp’s caliber would be a major boost to the offense. While nothing concrete has emerged yet, the Steelers are known for keeping a watchful eye on such opportunities, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see if Omar Khan can pull off a blockbuster deal.

The potential addition of Kupp could change the trajectory of Pittsburgh’s offense. Former New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski joined the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams to detail that he thinks the Steelers have a real chance to land Kupp.

"I like the Steelers," Gronkowski said. "I went to school in Pittsburgh my senior year of high school. So, I know what it's like to be part of that Steeler Nation. I understand what the Steelers mean to the city of Pittsburgh."

Gronkowski revealed that, despite being a former rival, he actually has a soft spot for the Steelers. He would love to see Kupp traded to Pittsburgh.

Rams' Cooper Kupp speaks to the media about being mentioned in trade rumors.

He believes they could be strong contenders to land Kupp and emphasized that securing the trade would be a significant boost for Pittsburgh.

"If they got Cooper Kupp, with Russell Wilson playing the way he did, throwing that ball up, lobbing it up to make a catchable ball for his receivers to go make a play, I feel like that would boost the Steelers," Gronkowski said. "I think it would be the best fit as well. If they can grab him, Steeler Nation would be going nuts."

While it’s unclear whether Gronkowski has any insider information or is simply sharing his thoughts, his perspective on the ongoing trade talks surrounding Kupp is certainly intriguing.

His confidence that Kupp would elevate the Steelers doesn’t guarantee the deal will happen, but it highlights the team’s ongoing pursuit of a top-tier wide receiver over the past several months.

Steelers' Russell Wilson Would Thrive With Rams' Cooper Kupp

Adding Kupp to an offense led by quarterback Russell Wilson and featuring standout receiver George Pickens would significantly enhance Pittsburgh's offensive capabilities. The Steelers believe they are on the brink of becoming genuine Super Bowl contenders, with many suggesting that one impactful trade for a receiver could be the catalyst. The momentum is building around the possibility of Kupp making his way to Pittsburgh.
