The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to make some moves as the NFL's trade deadline approaches on November 5th. General Manager Omar Khan has been in aggressive pursuit of multiple wide receivers since the 2024 offseason, including Brandon Aiyuk throughout training camp and Davante Adams once the regular season began. So far Khan has had trouble striking a deal, and time is running out to improve the position to set Pittsburgh up for a successful second half of the season.

There are a few interesting names available as the deadline approaches. There aren't any big-name stars expected to be dealt, but players like Darius Slayton, Kendrick Bourne, or KJ Osborn are possible additions for the Steelers.

Reports also surfaced about the Steelers having an opportunity to land one of Russell Wilson's former receivers in Courtland Sutton, but that seems like a long shot since Sutton has been the only source of offensive production for the Denver Broncos at times.

Another one of Wilson's former targets has been rumored to be available occasionally, and that is DK Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks. Acquiring Metcalf seems out of the realm of possibility, but after Seattle's loss in Week 9 Pittsburgh running back Cordarrelle Patterson took to social media to begin recruiting the wideout.

This isn't the first time that Patterson has attempted to recruit some players to Pittsburgh on social media. He also used this technique while the team was in pursuit of Adams, but clearly that didn't pan out. The running back clearly has no say in how the team operates, but fans certainly appreciate him putting in the effort to help acquire more talent in Pittsburgh.

Wilson and Metcalf are very familiar with one another, and Metcalf was one of Wilson's favorite targets while the two played together in Seattle. The duo played together for three seasons from 2019 through 2021, and the Seahawks saw a lot of success when Wilson was targeting Metcalf. The two connected on 26 touchdowns and Metcalf recorded 2,973 receiving yards with Wilson throwing him the ball.

The quarterback went to three straight Pro Bowls when he was throwing to Metcalf, and the young receiver was named an All-Pro in his second season in the league thanks to Wilson.

Metcalf has shown some frustration at times while playing in Seattle since Wilson was traded after the 2021 season, which could be a sign that he wants to part ways with the organization. If Metcalf was to want out of Seattle, Pittsburgh would likely be a pretty attractive destination due to his former quarterback reviving his career with the black and gold.

Steelers Could Use The Trajectory Of Seattle's Season To Land DK Metcalf

Seattle currently has a record of 4-5 and sitting at the bottom of the NFC West, but the division is still wide open with the first place team possessing a record of 5-4. The Seahawks suffered a heart-breaking in-division loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9, which hurts the organization's playoff hopes.

Seattle has now lost two games in a row and their schedule won't get any easier as their next two games come against the San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals. Metcalf didn't play in the team's last two losses as he has been dealing with an MCL sprain.

The season can easily get out of control for the Seahawks, which is a reason the organization may want to commit to some sort of rebuild now. The team has an older quarterback and a new head coach, so now might be the perfect time to sell off some pieces for draft capital.

It certainly wouldn't be cheap for the Steelers to acquire Metcalf, but adding him to the current roster would be worth it. Pittsburgh seems to be a threat in the AFC, and adding a receiver of that caliber will only help the franchise moving forward.
