The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in search of an upgrade at the wide receiver position. Rumors have been circulating about the Steelers’ aggressive pursuit of a reliable WR2 to complement George Pickens and bolster their passing game. The team reportedly came close to acquiring San Francisco 49ers wideout Brandon Aiyuk in the 2024 offseason, but the deal fell through at the last minute. Despite the setback, General Manager Omar Khan remains determined, expressing his willingness to make a move if the right opportunity arises.

With the trade deadline fast approaching, Steelers fans are eager to see if Khan can bring in a difference-maker at receiver. The loss of Diontae Johnson has left a notable gap, and while the team has made minor adjustments, fans know a more significant addition could make a big impact on the offense. Khan has already shown he's not afraid to be bold, and many are watching to see if he can deliver a high-impact player before the deadline passes.

Though options are dwindling, a few potential game-changing wide receivers remain available. A strategic acquisition could elevate the Steelers' offense and give them a stronger chance in the Super Bowl race. Here’s a look at five of the best remaining options for the Steelers as they make one final push to land a solid WR2.

1. Keenan Allen

Keenan Allen, now 32 years old, has proven he can still perform at a high level. Though he was traded to the Chicago Bears ahead of the 2024 season, the Bears have struggled, and with Allen’s age and Chicago’s likely preference for a younger roster, they might be open to trade discussions.

Allen, who becomes a free agent in 2025, could be an ideal fit for the Steelers, bringing both experience and reliability to their wide receiver corps.

2. Jalen Tolbert

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off another loss, and their season is unraveling. As their playoff hopes fade, they may look to offload players at the trade deadline.

Wide receiver Jalen Tolbert has had a solid season, with 30 receptions for 353 yards and three touchdowns, making him a potential asset for a team in need. Tolbert could be a valuable addition to the Steelers, providing depth and playmaking ability in their receiving corps.

3. Adam Thielen

Adam Thielen would be a sensible target for the Steelers. As a veteran receiver with some good football left in him, he could offer a reliable, low-risk upgrade if he is healthy.

Given the Carolina Panthers’ status as definite sellers, the Steelers likely wouldn’t need to give up much to acquire him, making Thielen a name to keep a close eye on as the deadline approaches.

4. DK Metcalf

DK Metcalf deserves mention, though he would likely be the most expensive and challenging target for the Steelers to acquire. Metcalf thrived alongside Russell Wilson during their time together with the Seattle Seahawks, showcasing his ability as a game-changing wide receiver.

While the Seahawks are probably not eager to part with him, a compelling offer from Khan could potentially make the unlikely happen, bringing the star receiver to Pittsburgh. Although a long shot, Metcalf remains a tantalizing option for the Steelers.

5. Mike Williams

Despite the New York Jets securing a recent win, their season remains on life support. With a deep wide receiver corps, Mike Williams stands out as a viable trade option.

While he may not be a game-changing player for the Steelers, he would still represent a significant upgrade and is a legitimate candidate for Pittsburgh to consider.

Steelers' Omar Khan Has All Eyes On Him As Trade Deadline Approaches

With the trade deadline approaching on Tuesday, the Steelers are running out of time to make a game-changing move at the wide receiver position.

All eyes will be on Khan and the front office to see if they can pull off a trade before the deadline. Sitting at 6-2, the Steelers' offense has been performing well with Wilson at the helm. Adding a reliable WR2 could significantly enhance their chances for success this season.
