When the Pittsburgh Steelers last faced the Cleveland Browns, they lost a tight game on the road in a snowstorm, playing on a short week. Now, the Steelers will have a shot at redemption when they host the Browns at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday. The previous matchup left a bitter taste for Pittsburgh, with frustration building throughout the game, especially for wide receiver George Pickens.

Pickens was visibly upset during the game, particularly in the final moments when he got entangled with Browns defensive back Greg Newsome II. Instead of being in the end zone, Pickens found himself in a physical battle with Newsome, which ultimately contributed to the Steelers’ loss. After the game, Pickens didn’t hold back, stating that the Browns weren’t a good team and that their victory was only due to the snow. This Sunday’s game promises to be a must-watch event, with Pickens and Newsome likely to renew their rivalry on the field.
Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski addressed the challenge of slowing down Pickens during his weekly press conference on Wednesday. Stefanski acknowledged Pickens’ talent and competitive spirit, emphasizing the importance of finding ways to limit his impact on the game. As the Steelers and Browns face off again, all eyes will be on the Pickens vs. Newsome showdown, adding extra fuel to what is already a heated divisional rivalry.
"He's a challenge in the pass game," Stefanski said. "He's a contested-catch player where he's always open, or the quarterback always feels like he's open. He can throw it into coverage, and they feel like he's gonna come down with the ball. They've expanded his routes and things where he's running them throughout this offense this season. He's a very big challenge. You have to understand where he is at all times."
Stefanski acknowledged that under Arthur Smith, the Steelers have become more creative with the routes Pickens is running. He understands that limiting Pickens' impact won't be an easy task.

When asked about the heated altercations between Pickens and Newsome, Stefanski addressed the rivalry, recognizing the intensity it brings to the matchup.
"We're so focused on us," Stefanski said. "This is a great rivalry. It's two teams that play hard. We're excited about the challenge for Sunday."
For Pickens, performing on the field isn’t the main concern—it’s maintaining focus and staying engaged throughout the game. He has consistently shown the ability to make big plays, but the challenge lies in managing his emotions and avoiding costly penalties.
During the Steelers' 44-38 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Pickens punted the ball into the crowd, yet escaped a flag. However, he did receive two 15-yard penalties that hurt his team and disrupted his momentum.
Steelers' George Pickens Must Not Let The Browns Get Inside His Head
A notable moment came when Head Coach Mike Tomlin was seen speaking with Pickens, encouraging him to stay mentally focused. Pickens cannot afford to let Newsome or any of the Browns' defensive backs get inside his head.
This was my favorite moment in Hard Knocks. The “yes sir” is subtle but telling.

Given his past struggles with maintaining composure, the Browns will likely target him, hoping to provoke a reaction.
