The Pittsburgh Steelers' front office led be General Manager Omar Khan toed a very fine line entering the 2024 season when it came to the wide receiving corps. After getting by throughout the first 12 games with George Pickens leading the way (without much help), the star pass-catcher suffered a hamstring injury that has turned into a much bigger problem than originally anticipated. The absence of the team's best wide receiver wasn't a big issue in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns, but it could certainly hurt the offense moving forward if certain players don't step up to fill the clear void that is present.

It's nearly impossible to find legitimate help this time of year at pretty much every position, but fans thought that the Steelers could potentially make a move to claim and/or sign KJ Osborn after he was released by the New England Patriots. That didn't end up being the case, but another wideout became available on Friday, as the Miami Dolphins mutually parted ways with Odell Beckham Jr.
The Black and Gold faithful may be interested in bringing Beckham to town to see what he has left in the tank, but the negative is that he hasn't played much good football the last couple of years and he may not be worth the headache. The depth would be nice to have, however, ESPN insider Dan Graziano was pretty clear on Get Up Friday morning about the main two teams to look out for in any kind of Beckham sweepstakes.
"Two spots. He was with the [Los Angeles] Rams when they won the Super Bowl. I know they like him there," Graziano said confidently. "Buffalo [Bills] have kind of sort of played around with the idea the last couple years when he's been available."
This isn't earth-shattering news, nor should it upset Steelers fans. Having depth in the receivers' room would be especially nice because of Pickens' injury, but by the time Pittsburgh's leading pass-catcher returns, Beckham would just be getting familiar with the offense. Scotty Miller and Ben Skowronek aren't household names, but have done a fairly nice job embracing their roles and stepping up when called upon.

The past few seasons have not been kind to Beckham. He likely went to the Dolphins' front office and asked to work something out based on his playing time in 2024 after returning from injury. In nine games played, he has just nine catches for 55 yards. It's not much of a risk for any team out there to bring him onboard due to the structure of his contract.
Odell Beckham is owed ~$200k the rest of the season, so a claim wouldn’t cost a team much at all. At 9 catches for 55 yards, he’s not close to earning incentives (36 catches/566 yards/4 TDs are the lowest thresholds for him to hit). https://t.co/ie6zsGowtJ

If Graziano's comments aren't enough for Steelers fans to refrain from getting excited about the possibility of signing Beckham, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero brought one of Pittsburgh's division rivals into the conversation: the Baltimore Ravens.
Odell Beckham Jr.'s release is expected to be official today. If he clears waivers, he will be free to sign with any team. Two teams he has played with before, the #Rams and #Ravens, are currently in playoff contention ... https://t.co/DhuOtilatj

Overall, a Super Bowl pedigree should be enough alone to land Beckham in a new locker room by January. The idea of Khan and the Steelers reaching out, however, seems extremely slim.

Steelers Will Need Pickens For Playoff Run
Mathematically, Pittsburgh is not yet in the postseason, but has a 99% chance of competing for a Super Bowl run in January. It will be difficult to put points on the board consistently without the offense's top offensive weapon, however. The team does need to take care of business to clinch a playoff berth, but getting Pickens healthy for the tournament has to be of the utmost importance for the training staff.
