Steelers' Offense Catches Big Jab From Legendary QB Tom Brady During Week 16 Broadcast

The Pittsburgh Steelers are feeling the effects of a very difficult backend to the 2024 schedule. A loss to the Philadelphia Eagles has now been followed with a very tough game against the Baltimore Ravens that ended poorly. It will only get more complicated for Mike Tomlin and his team as the Kansas City Chiefs will come to town for a standalone game on Christmas Day. Pittsburgh will have plenty to learn from, but not much time to do so, as the finale of three games in 11 days will come on Wednesday.

It is widely recognized that the best quarterback of all time is Tom Brady. The signal-caller-turned-announcer is experiencing his first year in the booth with Fox and, on Saturday, called his second-straight Steelers game. It seemed as if the future Hall of Famer had some negative things to say about an offensive unit led by Russell Wilson.

In the middle of the second quarter, Pittsburgh faced a 3rd and 5, but a ton of miscommunication around the line of scrimmage led to the Steelers calling a timeout. Brady gave his analysis as the replay was on the television.

"You've got to keep these third downs in third and manageable which is where [the Steelers] were at," Brady said. "This is the type of communication that good offenses have, though, in the NFL, trying to get into a good play to give yourself an opportunity to succeed, but on the road the challenge is the communication."

At first, it seemed as if Brady was complimenting the Steelers' offense, but when listening to him give his thoughts a couple more times, he seemed to take a major dig at Pittsburgh. A good offense wouldn't have been in the situation that the Steelers were in that specific moment. A formidable group probably wouldn't have been seemingly confused during a critical third down.

Given what happened, there's no way that Brady would have been giving credit to the Steelers, especially because the team wasted a timeout after being lost on offense.

The offense has been up and down with Wilson running the show. There have been some highs, but the lows have been glaring, especially with George Pickens on the sideline. There isn't a doubt in the world that the organization desperately needs its best wideout to come back healthy. The unit looks lost without him on the gridiron.

Steelers Have Work To Do If The AFC North Crown Is Going To Make Its Way To The Steel City

Pittsburgh has put itself in a good position, despite two losses in a row. All the team needs to do is win two games in a row to claim the AFC North and host at least one playoff game at home. The problem, however, is that the Chiefs are coming to the Steel City on Christmas Day. Kansas City will clinch home-field advantage in the conference with a win, so it is going to be no easy task for Tomlin and co. to take down arguably the best team in the NFL.
