Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver, George Pickens has unintentionally proved just how valuable he is to the organization after being forced to miss the last three games. Pickens popped up with a hamstring injury right before the Cleveland Browns game, which forced him to miss games against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Ravens. It wasn't ideal, and while the Steelers beat the Browns without Pickens, the offense clearly missed him. His absence highlighted how much the team relies on his presence to elevate their play.

Against the Eagles and Ravens, it became evident just how much better the offense and quarterback Russell Wilson perform with Pickens on the field. His dynamic playmaking ability, coupled with his impressive route running, has been a key asset in the Steelers’ offensive scheme. Without him, the offense lacked the explosive factor that Pickens provides, and it was clear the team struggled to maintain consistent production. His absence underscored his importance and the need for his return.

There have been reports hinting that Pickens will be back for the Christmas Day matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. On Monday, NFL Insider Adam Schefter revealed that the good news is likely true. Steelers fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as Pickens' potential return will provide a much-needed boost to the offense during a critical stretch of the season.

"It sounds like the Steelers will get some of those parts back," Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday. "Most notably George Pickens has a realistic chance to be back for the Steelers on Christmas which would certainly help the offense. Look the season is on the line here and the division is at stake. I think that they had hopefully that game in mind the entire time for Pickens to come back."

Pickens was having a standout 2024 season before his hamstring injury sidelined him. Now well-rested and hopefully at full health, he’s poised to help the Steelers take on the Chiefs on Christmas Day as underdogs.

While Pickens has faced criticism for occasionally showing poor attitude and effort, it’s clear that after witnessing life on offense without him, Steelers fans have developed a deeper appreciation for his talents.

Getting Pickens back would be a huge boost for Wilson and the offense. All signs point toward him returning to face the Chiefs, and if that’s the case, both the Steelers and their fans can breathe a slight sigh of relief.

That sigh is cautious, however, as facing the Chiefs on a short week, especially after two disappointing losses, will be no easy task. Still, Pickens' return offers a glimmer of hope and a reason for optimism as the Steelers prepare for a tough challenge.

Steelers' Mike Tomlin Eager To Turn The Momentum Back In Pittsburgh

Mike Tomlin’s teams may occasionally stumble around this time of year, but they never quit. Tomlin has famously said that his team will not go gently, and two losses do not define all the Steelers have accomplished in 2024.

A win against the Chiefs would reignite the spirits of both Steelers fans and the team, serving as a much-needed morale booster. This game has now become a must-win if the Steelers want to maintain control of the AFC North. As the game draws closer, all eyes will be on the health of Pickens and his potential impact on the Steelers' chances.
