The Pittsburgh Steelers' future at the quarterback position is going to take center stage all offseason. Many fans are curious about what direction the Steelers will go at quarterback. They brought in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields for the 2024 season, hoping to add stability to the position. Both quarterbacks showed flashes of potential, but neither one truly solidified their future in Pittsburgh.

While Wilson and Fields are both reportedly eager to return in 2025, the Steelers will need to pay a hefty price if they want to keep either one around. The decision becomes even more complicated considering the recent buzz surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders' hiring of Head Coach Pete Carroll. This has sparked rumors linking Wilson to the Raiders, adding an extra layer of uncertainty about his future in Pittsburgh.

Steelers insider Gerry Dulac added fuel to the fire during his appearance on the Randy Baumann & the DVE Morning Show. Dulac shared new insight that has fans on edge, revealing that there may be more potential for Wilson to stay in Pittsburgh than initially thought. With the quarterback situation still up in the air, the offseason promises to be full of twists and turns for Steelers fans.

"I would say it's possible, given the connection," Dulac said when asked about Wilson to the Raiders. "But in the last couple of days, l'm not convinced that he's going to be gone from here. So nothing concrete has happened. I saw where Russ said something the other day, and I think that was a little exaggerated if you will, because nothing concrete has gone on. But I'm not convinced that he's going to be gone. So we'll see how this, and look, they have until March 12th. Something will start occurring, maybe in the next two or so weeks."

The rumors linking Wilson to the Raiders have intensified, especially given his successful history with Carroll, including a Super Bowl win during their time with the Seattle Seahawks

When Dulac was asked whether his comments were based on speculation or inside information, he took the opportunity to clarify his stance on Wilson's future with the Steelers.

"Things I am hearing," Dulac said. "I don't know that that's going to be the case. But like I said, I'm not ready to sit here and say that he will be gone."

Dulac, who is closely connected to the Steelers organization, has heard enough to make him hesitant to believe the team is ready to part ways with Wilson. If the Steelers bring him back for 2025, it’s likely to upset many fans. While Wilson did bring an element to the offense that the Steelers have lacked, his inability to help the team break their five-game losing streak to end the season raises doubts about his effectiveness.

Steelers' Russell Wilson Had An Above Average 2024 Season

The Steelers had Wilson on a veteran minimum deal in 2024, yet they still couldn’t end their playoff drought. The thought of paying him several million dollars per year at 36 years old is understandably concerning to fans. Wilson posted a passer rating of 95.6, with 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions in 11 games. He finished with a 6-6 record as a starter, including a playoff loss, which leaves many questioning his long-term value to the team.

It seems most Steelers fans are eager to see what Fields has to offer. As the younger, more exciting option with significant long-term potential, he’s generating plenty of buzz. However, there are still concerns about committing a large sum to Fields as well. Both decisions will come under heavy scrutiny, and it won’t be easy for Pittsburgh to navigate. The future of the quarterback position is set to change the complexion of the Steelers and shape their future for many years to come.
