The Pittsburgh Steelers have been under fire since the end of the 2024 season due to the coaching staff. The fan base is tired of ownership being cheap as the organization has one of the smallest coaching rosters in the NFL. Many fans were calling for Head Coach Mike Tomlin's job, and the ineffectiveness at both the offensive and defensive coordinator positions has been despicable. There were some bright spots on the coaching staff, but the Steelers lost one of their best defensive minds on Friday.

Aaron Curry has served as the Steelers inside linebackers coach since the 2023 season, and he was considered one of the best young minds in the building for Pittsburgh. It is always a danger that some of the coaching staff will get poached once new head coaches are hired around the NFL, and that was exactly the case for Curry. Aaron Glenn was recently hired as the head coach for the New York Jets, and it was announced on Friday that he would be taking Curry with him.

This isn't a great look for the Steelers.

Curry is a former inside linebacker himself, and he was selected with the fourth overall pick. He is able to connect with his inside linebackers because of his experience as a player, which made him fit in perfectly on Tomlin's staff. Now the Steelers will be looking for someone to fill his shoes. Pittsburgh's defense already struggled to end the 2024 season, and it won't be easy to find a new inside linebackers coach that can elevate the defense.

Steelers Losing Aaron Curry Proves Things Aren't Going Well In Pittsburgh
Again, the Steelers losing any coach to the Jets is horrible, especially when the coach will be taking on the same title in New York. The Jets have been one of the worst organizations in all of sports over the last decade, and it is a bit insulting for a coach to leave a legendary organization like the Steelers for one of the worst in the NFL.
The Steelers will likely look to fill this coaching vacancy sooner rather than later, and multiple former players should be considered for the job.
