Steelers: Pittsburgh Based Company Receives Direct Request From Aaron Rodgers For Merchandise

The Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback situation for the 2025 season is getting very murky. Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers appear to be the top two options. Both are older veterans who are past their prime and will command quite a bit of money, more than most Steelers fans are willing to pay. As Steelers fans wait to see who their starting quarterback for the 2025 season will be, tensions are rising over the team's direction.

On Wednesday, a new detail emerged on social media that added another layer to the quarterback drama. The "Misplaced Series," a John Geiger (JG) collaboration with New Era and Lids for MLB Opening Day, features team hats with a unique design concept, including hats for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Miami Marlins. However, what caught Steelers fans' attention was a post from Geiger’s social media, revealing that Rodgers had requested one of the Pittsburgh hats.

This request is an interesting and telling move, one that suggests Rodgers might be seriously considering a future with the Steelers in 2025. It's a request you wouldn’t make unless you thought you were going to be involved with that city soon—possibly as their starting quarterback. While it’s still unclear if Rodgers will ultimately land in Pittsburgh, this small gesture has raised the stakes in the ongoing quarterback conversation.

The Steelers seemed to have banked on securing a bargain deal for quarterback Justin Fields, hoping to get him at a discount under Mike Tomlin’s leadership. After bringing both Fields and Wilson to Pittsburgh for 2024, they now face the reality of both quarterbacks leaving in free agency. Fields ultimately walked, choosing a better offer from the New York Jets over what Pittsburgh had on the table, leaving the Steelers scrambling for their 2025 starting quarterback with fewer viable options available.

While the Steelers know exactly what they have in Wilson, his failure to sign with the team suggests they are doing everything they can to avoid bringing him back in 2025. If the Steelers were genuinely interested in re-signing him, a deal would have likely already been finalized by now. This absence of action speaks volumes, indicating that Wilson isn’t the direction they want to go.

Instead, the Steelers seem to have their sights set on Rodgers. The lack of movement on Wilson and the growing interest in Rodgers point to a potential shift in focus. With the quarterback market narrowing, the Steelers may be making a serious push for the future Hall of Famer to take the helm in 2025.

However, on Wednesday, it was revealed that Wilson would be flying to Cleveland for a visit with the Browns on Thursday. This adds another wrinkle to the Steelers' already complex quarterback situation. If Pittsburgh can’t strike a deal with the 41-year-old Rodgers and misses out on Wilson, the Steelers will find themselves in a brutal spot at quarterback, facing limited options to fill the most important position on the field.

Steelers Could Shock The Entire NFL World In The 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft quarterback class is widely considered to be weak, and many believe that if the Steelers were to trade up or try to land a quarterback with one of their draft slots, they would be getting poor value due to the lack of top-tier talent. However, that doesn’t necessarily rule out the possibility of the Steelers making a move. They could still opt to draft a quarterback and take the risk on development, even if the return isn't ideal.

The Steelers are faced with a choice: bring in a quarterback who’s past his prime or take a chance on developing a younger prospect. If they sign Rodgers, a mentor role for a young quarterback could be a potential strategy, although Wilson might be a better fit for that scenario given his leadership abilities.

There's even the possibility that the Steelers shock the NFL world by selecting a quarterback earlier than expected in the draft. Regardless of their approach, Rodgers’ interest in the special edition Pirates hat may be a subtle sign that a deal with Pittsburgh is closer than we think.
