The Pittsburgh Steelers appear ready to sit and wait to see what decision 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers makes. Rodgers has drawn serious interest from the Steelers, the New York Giants, and there are mixed reports on whether the Minnesota Vikings are still in the running

Contradicting reports continue to swirl, but the Giants seem to be the first team truly growing impatient. That could end up being good news for the Steelers as they remain patient in hopes of landing Rodgers. On Wednesday, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler joined NFL Live with Laura Rutledge to give the latest on the Rodgers situation. Fowler explained that the Giants are weighing their options and could pull out soon. After meeting with Jameis Winston, Russell Wilson, and Joe Flacco, New York seems ready to pivot if Rodgers continues to delay his decision. Their impatience might leave Pittsburgh with far less competition.

For now, the Steelers are staying calm and letting the process play out. Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan have positioned the team well, and they know Rodgers could be the final piece of a Super Bowl puzzle. While fans are growing restless, the organization seems determined to stay patient — a strategy that could pay off in a big way if Rodgers joins the team and can end their playoff drought in 2025.

"My senses are that the Pittsburgh Steelers might be willing to wait a little bit with Rodgers as their target right now," Fowler said. "The New York Giants are in the same boat, but they are getting impatient. I think that’s the team you look at in question because they have already visited with Jameis Winston, Russell Wilson, and Joe Flacco. They could just say, 'We are gonna cut our losses and go with a veteran.'"

The Steelers' patience could end up working in their favor. While other teams are scrambling to find answers at quarterback, Pittsburgh seems content to wait for Rodgers to make his decision. They believe they’ve built a roster capable of contending right now, and adding Rodgers would only elevate their chances of making a deep playoff run in 2025.

Pittsburgh Steelers Mason Rudolph

The Steelers brought back Mason Rudolph after one season away with the Tennessee Titans in 2024. While Rudolph remains a fan favorite and an inspiring story, he has never truly been able to secure a starting role in the NFL. Many Steelers fans do not believe he is the answer for the 2025 season. However, Rudolph does provide a sense of stability, offering Pittsburgh a reliable safety net if neither Rodgers nor Wilson ends up as their starting quarterback in 2025.

Meanwhile, the Giants' growing impatience could take them out of the running sooner rather than later. After multiple meetings with veteran quarterbacks, it seems like New York is preparing to pivot away from Rodgers if he doesn’t commit soon. That leaves the Steelers in a strong position as one of the last teams still holding out hope for the future Hall of Famer. The Giants also hold the third overall pick in the draft, which could heavily influence their decision to step away from the Rodgers sweepstakes.

Steelers' Interest In Aaron Rodgers Shows They Are Being Aggressive

The Steelers are serious about competing and are willing to be aggressive to find the right leader for their offense. Rodgers' experience and talent could be exactly what this team needs to finally get over the hump and return to the Super Bowl stage. It also could be a lot of drama and a big headache. Steeler Nation won't know unless they try and that's exactly what Pittsburgh is doing.

Of course, there’s still a chance Rodgers ultimately chooses to retire or head elsewhere, but the Steelers are doing everything they can to put themselves in position. With strong leadership, patience, and a clear plan, Pittsburgh is staying focused. Now, all that’s left is to see whether Rodgers decides to make Pittsburgh his next stop, retire or pick to play somewhere outside of the Steel City.
