The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted quarterback Aaron Rodgers for a six-hour visit on Friday. Rodgers has been keeping the Steelers on their toes while the team waits for his decision, and the meeting on Friday seemed to be a step closer to the quarterback signing with Pittsburgh. NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that it was a positive visit, and the two parties would stay in touch. However, considering some of Rodgers' previous complaints about his last team, the New York Jets, there could be a deeper meaning to the visit.

NBC Sports' Mike Florio wrote on Friday that the purpose of Rodgers' visit may have been to find out if there were leaks in the Steelers' organization. The first to break the news of Rodgers' visit to the Steelers' facility was Gerry Dulac, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
"The fact that Dulac reported it means someone from the Steelers leaked it," Florio wrote. "Which could have been a test by Rodgers to see whether the S.S. Rooney has leaks. Indeed, Rodgers has complained in the past about leaks with the Jets."
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show back in 2023, Rodgers complained about there being leaks during his time with the Jets regarding rumors around quarterback Zach Wilson. At the time, there were rumors Wilson was reluctant to play for the Jets.
"Concerning the leaks, whoever that person is that thinks it's okay to, number one, to talk to anybody like that, I don't understand what you get out of that," Rodgers said. "Number two, what is your motivation to bury someone like that?"
Florio also pointed out that all NFL teams have leaks, and that Rodgers visiting Pittsburgh wouldn't have remained silent regardless, given the Steelers' reporting obligations to the league office. On the topic of if, or when, the Steelers sign Rodgers, Florio detailed his opinion.
"It would have been (and eventually will be) on the daily list of transactions. (It didnโt make it to the Friday report.)"
Rodgers and Head Coach Mike Tomlin have been known in recent years to have a little bit of a rapport, and it's possible that the duo is connected sooner rather than later.

The highest profile suspect, though, is the Steelers Offensive Coordinator, Arthur Smith. NFL insider Jay Glazer posted on X regarding Smith and Rodgers' being together on the Steelers.
If Aaron Rodgers signs with the Steelers, he and Arthur Smith should do a show together, theyโd be like those two old dudes from The Muppets who talk shit from the balcony. It would be HILARIOUS!!! Iโd never miss an episode ๐๐๐

If Rodgers was going to the Steelers to check for leaks, could his suspicions be valid? It may not have been anyone high up in the organization that tipped Dulac off. It also may just be unreasonable to think that Rodgers would be able to visit the Steelers without a single person noticing.
If someone has sensitive information, they could want to share it for any number of reasons, it's just human nature. If the complete secrecy of having no one knowing what you're doing is what Rodgers is after, then retirement may be best suited for him.

Visit To Steelers Means Aaron Rodgers' Decision Is Coming Soon
Although the visit set off an initial wave of excitement, it doesn't seem like it has sped up Rodgers' process for picking a new team. As long as the Steelers don't give him a deadline, the quarterback will make the decision in his own time. It's impossible to predict what Rodgers will do, but it's clear he isn't in a hurry.
Although with the Steelers his last viable choice for a team, his decision should be easier than ever. Rodgers' first choice of the Minnesota Vikings is out of the running, so it's between Pittsburgh and retirement.
