The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be getting closer to an agreement with 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The veteran is a free agent for the first time in his career, but does not have too many suitors. The New York Giants are potentially in the running, but overall, it's starting to seem as if the signal-caller will be in the Steel City sooner rather than later. He met with the team's brass on Friday, adding fuel to the fire. The organization seems to be in no hurry to receive his decision, but fans are anxiously awaiting for him to put pen to paper.

Rodgers is a polarizing figure and one of the things he cares deeply about is his privacy. He has said several times throughout his career that he has a very tight-knit circle of friends that he trusts completely and unequivocally. One of his biggest haters throughout the media world is ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio. On Sunday, Florio theorized that Rodgers would attend The Pat McAfee Show live and in person during the popular program's "Big Night Aht."
"It remains to be seen when the announcement will be made," Florio wrote. "If only there were an event coming up next month in Pittsburgh featuring the guy whose show Rodgers appears on every Tuesday during football season. Oh, wait. There is."
Team insider and veteran reporter Mark Kaboly is The Pat McAfee Show's Steelers correspondent and was asked in a recent mailbag if Rodgers could potentially join the "Big Night Aht" and announce his decision to play in Pittsburgh. The journalist completely shut down any idea of that happening, which directly contradicts what Florio is expecting to happen.
"Strangely, you mentioned that," Kaboly wrote. "I was asked if I could pick Rodgers up at the airport and drive him to PPG Paints Arena for the show. Yeah, that has the same chance of happening as Rodgers announcing his decision on Pat’s show."
In typical Kaboly fashion, he wrote this on X account with a boatload of sarcasm. Overall, he is probably a little more plugged into what's going on with Rodgers, and was pretty blunt about the prospect of the quarterback announcing his decision on the popular sports program.

At this point, fans in Pittsburgh don't really care how Rodgers could potentially announce a decision. The Steelers need a formidable starting quarterback, and the former Super Bowl champion could provide some sincere comfort for a fan base that wants consistent play. The position has been in flux for over three years now, and while Rodgers isn't expected to be a long-term solution because of his age, he could be the perfect bridge quarterback.
In terms of how the news could possibly break, it seems most likely that Pittsburgh Post-Gazette insider Gerry Dulac has been the most involved when it comes to the situation. He originally reported that Rodgers was at the Steelers' facility last Friday.

It will be important for this decision to at least come prior to the 2025 NFL Draft, specifically so the franchise can make a surefire plan regarding the signal-caller position. It is not a deep class, and selecting one could be extremely risky.

Steelers Seem More Patient Than Ever Awaiting Rodgers' Decision
Pittsburgh has not been linked to many quarterbacks in the 2025 offseason. That makes one believe that the front office and coaching staff really like the idea of Rodgers manning the ship, at least for one year. His trip to the Steel City to meet with the decision-makers certainly could mean that he will be accepting contract terms and wearing the black and gold in 2025.
