The Pittsburgh Steelers still don't have a starting quarterback as they wait on Aaron Rodgers to make his decision. Now, one of their fallback options if Rodgers doesn't pick the Steelers is off the table. Russell Wilson, who signed a one-year deal with the Steelers last offseason, reportedly has a new home.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Wilson has came to an agreement with the New York Giants. The deal is reportedly a one-year contract worth up to $21 million with incentives. The Giants also gave Wilson $10.5 million guaranteed.

Schefter mentioned in his post that Wilson had been in negotiations with the Browns, and also the Steelers. Last week, Wilson took a trip to Cleveland to meet with Browns officials.

Wilson had a somewhat successful season with the Steelers in 2024, although the year ended in disaster with the franchise losing its last five games. Wilson was an unlikely option at quarterback for Pittsburgh, but now he is off the table as he will take on the starting job in New York. Rumors about a fractured relationship between Wilson and Pittsburgh began swirling earlier in the week, and there was likely no interest between the two sides on reuniting for the 2025 season after the way things have unfolded during the offseason.

The veteran quarterback was able to revive his career in Pittsburgh, and now he will get the chance to start once again with the Giants. New York also holds the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and a quarterback is still considered to be on the table for the team.

Regardless of what New York decides to do in the draft, Wilson should be expected to start. The regime for the Giants is on its last leg, and this is a prove-it year for nearly everyone involved in the organization. There is a lot riding on the idea that Wilson will be able to perform well, and he should be able to while throwing to superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers.
